Chapter 5
The race officially started. Once the gunshot rang out, dozens of motorcycles shot forward simultaneously. They moved so quickly that one could only catch a glimpse of them.
I pressed down on the accelerator, speeding around the racetrack at top speed. It took no time for me to stand out from the crowd.
Rowan was behind me. He wanted to catch up, but the distance between us grew as I smoothly glided past bend after bend, my knee only a fist’s width from the ground.
I could sense a worried gaze fixed on me as I moved—it came from the stage.
I won the race with a record of 10 minutes and 25 seconds. Rowan came in second, but he was 3 minutes and 3 seconds behind me.
I took off my helmet when I went on stage to collect my trophy. The journalists cried out in shock, “It’s her! It really is Geraldine Rivers, the legendary racer whose name once rocked Jolline City! She’s finally back after two years away!”
