Chapter 10
I left after that. Outside the hospital ward, Rowan’s parents tan inside when they saw that he was awake.
Only then did I realize Gideon was there, too. I was surprised and also a little diffident. He wasn’t jealous again, was he?
“What are you doing here?” I asked.
He held my hand with a gentle smile. “I came to pick my girlfriend up. I didn’t want her to get lured away.”
I asked curiously, “What would you do if I forgave Rowan?”
“You won’t!” he said confidently.
“It’s a hypothetical question.” I looked at him, feeling rather expectant.
Gideon’s eyes glinted. Then, he caressed my hair and spoke in a domineering and stubborn tone. “I’ll do whatever it takes to get you back, even if I have to lock you up. No matter what happens, you can only be mine…”
A chill ran down my spine. I slapped his hand away and placed a hand over my racing heart. “You’re crazy, Gid! But I like it, though.”
I joked, “If there really is a day when I pursue Rowan like mad, I give you the permission to lock me up. Could you trap me somewhere that’s a bit more spacious, though? I won’t ask for much–1 just want a place that’s as large as a racetrack so I can ride my motorcycle to my heart’s content!”
I ignored how my secondary personality didn’t even like motorcycles.
Gideon’s lips twitched. It looked like he would have to buy an island to satisfy that requirement. Fortunately, it was well within his means.
He suddenly recalled the deed to an island in the west–it was tucked away in his drawer. He cleared his throat before clamping a hand over my mouth. “Alright, that’s enough.”
Later, when I came across the deed, I cried in shock, “You’re crazy, Gideon!”
Only then would I learn that he’d already been preparing to return to the country when I’d called him to ask him to come back. He’d intended to tie me up and take me back. Fortunately, I’d woken up in time. That was the only thing that had made him set his plans aside.
