Chapter 67
Amaya emerged from the restroom just in time to witness the scene. She rushed over without hesitation and showed the man away. “What’s wrong with you? Trying to harass my best friend?”
She pulled out her phone and called Zachary. “Mr. Quinn, your girl, Jules, is being sexually harassed.
Julie frowned at Amaya’s dramatic statement and softly protested, “Don’t say nonsense.”
Amaya chuckled mischievously before turning to glare coldly at the man who’d been harassing Julie. She jerred, “Are there no mirrors in the men’s restroom? Looking ugly is bad mough, but scaring young ladies is crossing the line.”
Jube wanted to remind Amaya not to provoke the man farther, but before she could speak, the man’s face twisted in fury. Then, he lunged at Amaya.
“You bitch!” he roared and swing a fist at her.
But before the punch could land on Amaya, a strong hand caught the man’s wrist from behind.
“Who the hell dares to meddle in my business?” the man bellowed as he turned around. But when he saw Zachary, a man much taller and stronger than him, he faltered briefly. Then, he scowled. “Who the fuck are you? Fm warning you. Don’t stick your nose where it doesn’t belong…”
Before he could finish a sharp pain shot through his wrist. He let out a pained scream.
A scufflensued between the two men.
Seeing the chaos escalate, Julie swung her bag at the man to land hit after hit on his head and shoulders.
It wasn’t long before the man’s friends arrived. Julie sensed the situation turning dangerous and immediately called the police. All three ended up taken to the police station for questioning
The incident was considered a mutual tight as all parties were involved. Everyone was required to contact their families for ball.
Amaya looked nervously at Julie. “I’m too scared to call my parents, Jules. Can you call someone else?”
“Call who?” Julie couldn’t call Mandy because even if she did, the latter couldn’t come to bail her out
Amaya whispered hesitantly, “What about asking Zachary to help?”
“You want Karen to come bail us out? That woman probably wishes I’d rot in here for a year.” Julie scoffed.
Amaya vividly recalled the harsh words Karen had said to Julie years ago. She sighed heavily and said, “So I have to call my dad? I’ll be grounded forever if he finds out I got into trouble. You’ll never see me again.”
Julie felt guilty knowing the situation had escalated because Amaya and Zachary had tried to stand up ther
Just then, Zachary calmly spoke up, “Don’t worry. I’ve contacted my dad’s assistant. He’ll be here soon to bail us out.”
Amaya’s eyes lit up. “Really? Does your mom know?
Zachary shook his head. “I don’t think she does.”
Sighing in relief, Amarya nudged Julie with her elbow. “I think Mr. Quinn is a great choice, Jules. Maybe you should…” Before she could finish, Julie shot her a glare and silently told her to shut up. Amaya tactfully giggled and said nothing more.
About 20 minutes later, the door opened to reveal a middle–aged man wearing glasses and a black suit standing at the entrance.
Though he hadn’t stepped in, Julie recognized him as Zachary’s father’s assistant. He was the same person who’d represented Karen during their meeting years ago.
Zachary got up. “Thomas, is everything sorted?
Thomas Jenkins‘ gaze lingered briefly on Julie before he spoke formally, “Mr. Quinn, Mrs. Quinn Senior has sent me here to bail you out and take you home. “The implication in his words was clear.
Zachary frowned. “Didn’t I tell you not to let my mom know?”
“She’s waiting in t
the car
Zachary’s expression darkened. He opened his mouth to speak, but Thomas cut him off. “Mrs. Quinn Senior is worried about you, and you can’t let her worry, can you? “What about my friends?” Zachary asked.
