Belle wasn’t the only envious person. Even Chloe, now seated, was jealous. She had been jealous of Belle at first, and she felt even worse when Faith swooped in and Instantly took away all the attention. She was especially envious of Faith’s unreal frame and beauty.
The three of them used to call themselves good friends. Among the three, Chloe always thought she was the best–looking, only to be reduced to a foil.
Looking in disbelief, Chloe confirmed, “That’s Faith without a doubt, but I thought she was beaten up so badly until she was sent to the hospital. Why is she here? My intel can’t be wrong-
“Did Peter not beat her hard enough? Or did he let her go? How dare she openly walk in with Kyle? Aren’t they worried that Peter might find out?”
Belle grasped her wine glass so hard that she nearly crushed it. To safeguard her public image, she could only suppress her frustration.
In truth, Belle had the urge to confront Faith herself, but if she did so, she would only make herself the topic of gossip. It wasn’t good for her image.
Hence, she turned to Chloe. “Chloe, can you check out what’s going on? Give them a waming; they’re not allowed at the Rivas Corporation’s dinner event.” Chloe nodded. After that, she got up and approached Kyle and Faith Standing in front of them, she folded her arms on her chest and looked smug. Kyle and Faith exchanged confused looks.
Chloe demanded in an assertive way, “What are you doing here?
Kyle laughed at her question. “Are you here to make us laugh? What does that have to do with you?”
Chloe’s expression fell. “Kyle Archer, don’t try to be smart with me. Do you really think I care about you and her? I’m just trying to be nice and warn you.”
She turned to Faith “Faith, you’re quite bold. Aren’t you afraid that Peter will find out about this? By the way, didn’t he beat you up so badly that you got hospitalized? Or did he spare you because you…pleasured him?”
The look in Kyle’s eyes darkened when he heard Chloe’s insult. He wanted to slap Chloe, but Faith pulled him back. After all, getting into a physical fight on the Rivas family’s runt meant inviting trouble.
But Kyle wasn’t scared of stirring up trouble.
Chloe looked proud when she successfully provoked Kyle into action. “Ah, whatever. You’re delusional if you think Peter is cool with you and Kyle. The Russo tamaly will not let this slide.”
Kyle had wanted to tell Chloe the truth–that Peter was thinking of jumping off a building, and that joe was suffering.
But it was pointless to tell Chloe, as she would never take his word for it
Faith patted Kyle on the shoulder, hinting at him to calm down. She said to Chloe, “Chloe, you and I were once friends. You don’t have to pick on me and Kyle just because I was here to attend the event with him. We won’t interrupt you at all
“If there’s nothing more you want to say, please leave,”
Faith remained courteous even though she knew Chloe was up to no good. But Chloe immediately smirked. “What nonsense is that? Did you lose your mind after Peter beat you up? The Curtis family is on the brink of bankruptcy. You’re about to beg on the streets soon. Why are you even at this event?
“As for you, Kyle, you’re here to harass Belle, aren’t you? Belle doesn’t have the time today. Leave now! I can’t be bothered to talk more with you.”
Kyle placed an arm over Faith’s shoulders. He raised his head a little. “Isn’t Fay younger and prettier than Belle?**
Chloe’s expression.crumpled. It was a hard fact, though. The moment Faith showed up, she attracted all attention, proving Kyle right.
Kyle added icily. “We’re here on Invitation. I’m not gonna show you the invitation card, though. You have no right to inspect it.
“But there’s one thing I’m curious about. Belle sat there all decked out in jewelry like a ball of blinding light, but why aren’t you putting on any proper jewelry for the event? Are you too poor for that? Maybe that means you need to work harder to curry her favor
“I thought you were Belle’s best friend. Are you just an attendant of hers in the end? I can’t believe you’re willing to accept that.”
Kyle might be a gentleman in daily life who rarely insulted anyone, but if he set his mind to it, he would make sure to shame his victim. His words were like a blade through Chiloe’s heart
