Chapter 54
Dark circles have formed in her eyes from all the night she spent awake overworking because she couldn’t seem to get herself to fall asleep, plus the tiredness that came with the unexpected bouts of weakness, nausea and vomiting.
The news of Asher’s engagement with Charlotte hit her harder than she expected, maybe because that was the last thing she expected, especially with all his words and promises.
Lily’s hand enclosed around her tomach and the other went to her mouth, the thoughts of his promises had sent another wave of nausea, and before she knew it, she was throwing up the little she had for berakfast this morning.
The pood werk has been exceptionally hard for her. The news had somehow rewired her system. She was always tired but can’t seem to sleep, always hungry but can’t even stomach food, the constant nausea and vomiting, have all worn her out and all she wanted to do was stay in her bed and force sleep upon herself, but it was impossible to do so.
Today was her meeting with the Allard Corporation representatives. If she fails to show up, they’d all speculare that it was because of her divorce with Asher, and his recent engagement, and she wasn’t going to give them an opportunity to think so lowly of her. She was professional, she knew what she wanted, and she wasn’t going to let the same set of people that have been saliotaging her life for the entirety of it continue to do so. So. despise Angelica’s attempt to get her to stay back while she goes as her representative. Lily insisted she on going.
She carefully and expertly covered herself in makeup, and threw on her best outfit. She wasn’t going to give them the satisfaction of seeing her fail. However, now that she was bent over the toilet, spilling out her guts, it didn’t seem possible..
Lily, are you ready? Angelica asked from downstairs
Lily groaned and despite her body’s plea to stay back, she managed to pull herself to her feet. Cleaned up the toilet and herself, before she answered Angelica and quickly made her way downstairs with her bag filled with all they need for the meeting. She simply wasn’t going to think about them, they are the reason for her nausea anyway.
Angelica’s eyes softened the second they landed on Lily. She was considerably skinner than she was when she came here a week ago, the stress was showing on her. The night when she saw the news, she had stayed up the whole night crying and throwing up, and all her efforts to cheer her up were all in vain.

Lily forced a smile on her face and nodded. “I am! I should be asking you that, you don’t really have to do…
But I want to.” Angelica cut in with a smile, “you look stunning by the way.”
Laly looked down at the body con black gown she wore. It stopped right below her knees, it was professional and beautiful enough for this meeting “Thank you and you look amazing too”
They both smiled at each other and walked out, right after Angelica gave her a tight and reassuring squeeze.
As they were getting closer to the company venie, Lily began twitching in her chair, arranging and rearranging her dress as a wave of nervousness fur ber Throughout her plans for the meeting, she knew or rather, believed that Asher was not going to be present in the meeting, but now, she wasn’t so sure, and that sent her heart palpating. Earlier, a part of her wanted to at least bump into him, but now, she wasn’t so sure.
Noticing her nervousness, Angelica reached out and grabbed her lang, then gave it a reassuringly squeeze. “Everything is going to turn but fine, Lily Don’t over think it. You are not alone.” Lily needed to hear exactly that because her nerves magically calmed down, and she slowly exhaled, her muscles relaxing

The meeting ended up going better than they expected, and not once did Lily see Asher throughout the meeting, and not once was any reference made to the current situation, and for that she was extremely grateful. Even more grateful when they reached an agreement with the teanu
“Uh, excuse me, ma’am,” Miss Brien, one of the team members called out as they were about to leave the hall, “where’s your office located‘ We’d like to dispend soour samples and files”
“Unaly chuckled and exchanged glances with Angelica. She didn’t think a physical office was going to be necessary. “Td send my home address via canal, Miss Brien. The venue for the office is under wraps in regards to the launch party”
Confusion enhed itself into the wrinkles that formed in Miss Brien’s face at her excuse, but she nodded nonetheless. “Alright, have a nice day then.”
“You too” they both chorised and practically ran out of the room
“That was scary.” Angelica said as they walked down the hallway, and Lily nodded, taking a deep breath.

“Lily, let’s go. Angelica said once she noticed them, and she tried to hold onto Lily’s hand, but they instantly flew to her lips instead as she felt the
remainants of her breakfast in her threat.
Tm going to use the bathroom,” she manged to say before she ran towards the bathroom. She made it right on time, and the next minute was spent with her throwing up her guts. Her eyes turned red from the pain of trying to throw up what wasn’t there and tears trickled down her cheeks. Everywhere hurts.
She spent an extra minute, trying to catch her breath before she cleaned up herself and the toilet, the walked out to wash her hands, only to see Charlotte, waiting for her with her hands crossed and a smug smile.
