Chapter 42
Asher stirred awake slowly, and he reached across the bed to hold Lily but was met with the cold bed instead. His brows furrowed together and he reached out even more, thinking she might have shifted out of his reach, but she was nowhere around and he immediately stopped his eyes open,
Truly, she wasn’t anywhere in the room. It even felt like she hadn’t been in the room at all, l’anic immediately coursed through him as his mind. conjured up the worst scenarios possible and he instantly sprang up from the bed.
“Lily..” He called out, practically running out of the mom as he went in search of her, but there was no response, adding to his fear. He checked the room opposite his, checked the bathroom, the kitchen, and there was no sign of Lily.
I felt like he even imagined coming on the boat with her, and every interaction they had was a figment of his imagination. “For God’s sake, where is. she?” He whispered under his breath as he walked around, looking for her, but his search suddenly came to a lult and relief washed over him when he fully caught sight of her
Lily stood by the edge of the yacht, leaning against the tailings as she stared out at the ocean, completely unaware of the presence behind her. Her mind was completely fixed on the message she received earlier from herilad
She had momentarily forgotten about his threats while she was hanging out with Asher, but of course it came back to hunt her, but with the experiences she’s had with Asher the past few days, the stupid flattering in her belly and the thumping of her chest whenever he was near, have all heightened the impossiblity of doing what her father asked of her. But then again, the consequences that await her if she fails to get the job done seemed to outweigh everything else.
3 days. That was all she had left.
“You should be careful and alert if you’re going to be out here,” Asher finally said after staring at her for a few seconds, and Lily’s heart lurched to her stomach in fear as she quickly turned to look at the culprit.
Her hand flew to her chest and she exhaled loudly when she saw Asher’s face. “Why did you sneak up on me like that!?” She asked, trying to get her breathing under control.
A corner of Asher’s lips rugged up and he shrugged nonchalantly, walking up to her. “Why did you leave me alone in the room and had me wake up to a cold bed?”
Lily breathed out a laugh and shook her head. “So petty, and I just needed some fresh air” Sparing him a glance, she returned to her former position and Asher mirrored it, while staring at her thoughtfully.
She pretended to be unaware of his piercing gaze, and her mind constantly drifting off to her father’s message reminding her she had only 3 days left made that easier, but didn’t keep her from noticing it either.
“Are you going to stop staring?”
“Are you going to share what’s bothering you?”
She glanced at him and let out a breath. “Nothing is bothering me…” She lied through her teeth, and the feeling of guilt and shame clung unto her like a second skin. Asher had shamelessly and comfortably shared bits and pieces of his life with her, and yet, she could not bring herself to tell him the truth, even though it concerned them both
But this is different. That was the excuse she gave to herself, but that didn’t make her feel any better.
“For some reason, which may or may not include you constantly spacing out every 5 seconds, I don’t believe you. She looked at him and arched a brow, before she slowly expelled a breath and nodded, wringling her hands together.
“Fine! I don’t mean to sound like I don’t appreciate this or that I haven’t enjoyed myself so far, it’s just that I was wondering how I’m going to get to work tomorrow.”
Asher blinked once, then twice, a passive look on his face and Lily chuckled nervously, “You don’t have work tomorrow” He finally said, and she frowned. “The supplies are getting delivered tomorrow and Angelica is handling it
This time around, it was Lily’s turn to blink in confusion before a smile cracked on her face.” How did you know that? I didn’t even remember.” His lips tugged up in a side and he winked at her.
“Thave a knack for doing my research properly before making a decision. Now, will you tell me what is actually bothering you or do I need to unleash my detective skills on your Lily’s eyes widened slowly and the tips of her cars turned red. She thought she sold him with her lame excuse earlier “I run a multi–million company singlehandedly Lily, if you’re going to try to distract me, put in a bit more effort”
She raised a brow and turned to face him squarely, a brazen idea running through her mind. “A bit more effort?” He nodded, and she took a few steps closer to him until she was practically pressed against him and both of Asher’s brows shut up. Something like this!” She slowly trailed a finger around the waistband of his shorts.

Chapter 12
Hmm. I could use a linle more effort. His eyes twinkled with mischief when he saw her gulp at his words. Lily wasn’t one to pull off a stunt like this, this was the moment she would give up, but the look in her eyes stirred something at the pit of his stomach, and a little bit lower than that. It was a wild look and he just wanted to rile it up more. What! That’s the best you can… The rest of his words were cut off by her lips capturing his softly.
“Good enough” Lily asked, pulling out of the kiss. Her heart pounding erratically inside of her, but instead of giving her a response, Asher grabbed her waist and pulled her to himself before his lips captured hers in a heated kiss.
