Chapter 35
“Im not going to do it Lily said, her hands balling
a fist, her fingers digging into her palms. Mr Morgan stopped in his tracks and glared at her.
“What did you just say? She gulped, blinking to keep the tears from falling
“I said I’m not going to do it.
In a flash. Mr Morgan’s hand was wrapped tightly against her neck, and her eyes widened as she struggled to take a breath, hitting his hand desperately, but he just tightened his grip. “In the five years that you’ve been married to him, what has this family gained from it 1? You are just an ungrateful greedy animal” He let go of her suddenly, pushing her to the floor.
The tears that Lily was desperately trying to hold in now trailed down her cheeks in torrents, her hand encircled around her neck softly while she coughed hysterically.
“You’re going to do as I have said, Lily, Charlotte, unlike you, has a functioning brain and knows exactly what to do where she has been sent! Is that cleart” Lily’s eyes found her mother’s and tears were swimming in them, but unlike the pity she felt when she was younger, she felt nothing but resentment and disgust. For once, can’t she be of help!
as her hand
hand cradled the spot that
A harsh kick on her stomach snapped out of her thoughts and sent her into another coughing fit amidst groans as was terribly kicked..
“Don’t ignore me. Shooting her another glare, Mr Morgan grinned his teeth and stormed off the living room. “You have only 5 days. Don’t tempt me by defying my orders” He said behind him.
Lily’s lips quivered from trying to keep the sobs in, her eyes zeroed on the envelope containing the papers. What exactly has she done to deserve
She felt her mother come up behind her and try to help her, but she immediately recoiled from her reach. “I needed your help a minute ago, not now. From her peripheral vision, she saw her mum flinch, but she was way past caring,
She grabbed onto the wall for support, and tried to push herself up. A whimper escaped her lips at the pressure as the pain shot up her legs and her stomach, yet she refused any form of help. Her knees almost gave out when she finally got off the floor, but she pushed through the pain.
“I’m sorry, Lily. I really am” Mrs Morgan whispered as Lily brushed past her, but she paid her no heed, not even a nod of acknowledgement and Mrs Morgan’s stomach knotted painfully. She was just as helpless as Lily, why can’t she understand that now! Her shoulders trembled as she tried to repress the tears and sobs while watching Lily drag herself out of the house, occasionally stopping and groaning from all the pain.
“You forgot this Charlotte’s voice sounded every bit of the happiness bubbling Inside of her, and she practically skipped to where Lily was and handed her the envelope “For your own good, I suggest you hold onto it. She forced it into Lily’s hands and tapped it mockingly, a devilish smile on her face, but all Lily could do was glare.
“Now, mumm,” she walked over to her mum and intertwined their arms together. “Let’s go and continue trying out that recipe.
Lily’s eyes zeroed in on them, and a big part of her wishes and prayed their mother will swat her hand away, or say something to reprimand Charlotte. She just prayed and wished for anything comforting, but in the end, her mum only glanced at her before she walked away to the kitchen with Charlotte.
A humorless laugh left Lily’s lips, and she rubbed her face. Of course. Her grip on the envelope tightened as she forced herself out of the house and into the car.
“Angelica, Hi,” she greeted as soon as Angelica picked up. The meeting ended earlier than usual, are you still up for the drinks!” A small smile formed on her face at Angelica’s response. “Great, I’ll meet you there.”
Alcohol probably wasn’t the best decision with her condition right now, her body begged for something healthy for all the pain it was going through, but her mind begged for something else, and quite frankly it was her mind that needed the most saving.
She expertly avoided all of Angelica’s questions about what happened to her. She had forgotten to hide his finger marks from her neck, and there was nothing she could do about her limp; all which Angelica noticed and was horrified, but she managed to evade the questions and turn all the attention to Angelica
“Are you sure you are okay? Lily frowned at her question, but nodded nonetheless.
“Whyy?”
Angelica scratched the back of her neck and chuckled nervously. “You are on your 7th shot for the night, Lily, and it’s not been up to an hour you got here
Lily’s eyes flicked to the shots laid our before her, and she giggled, waving her hand dismissively. “Tim filinecee”
Angelica’s brows shot up and she fought off a smile. “Well, the first sign of drunkenness is slurring your words. You are definitely not fine.” She

reached for Lily’s bag, and after ransacking it for a few seconds, she found her phone.” Here, unlock it. I need to reach out to someone to pick you
- up.
Lily’s eyes went to her phone and she shook her head.” Nope!” She took another shot and drowned it, her eyes stinging from the burn.
Luckily for Angelica, the phone rang the next second and she immediately picked it up. “Lily, L…
“This isn’t Lily,” she immediately cut in, Tm Angelica, her PA, we are currently at a bar, and Lily… She glanced at Lily, who had somehow fallen asleep at the bar, is passed out drunk.”
Asher immediately sprang up from his chair, a frown etched on his face. Lily doesn’t go to bars. “Which bar?”
