Chapter 34
Lily’s five days break passed by in a blur and she was soon thrown into work. She tried to find an atom of annoyance or tiredness at having to decorate a mansion with over 10 rooms, but she couldn’t find it in her.
She enjoyed every bit of it, and luckily she was blessed with amazing team members. Each of them valued the work they were entrusted with,
“Talready love how the living room is coming together, Angelica, her personal assistant said, coming up to stand beside her and Lily smiled. The others had gone home for the day, but they chose to stay back to inspect their progress and take note of everything.
“Same here.” Lily nodded, turning back to look at the living room. “I was sceptical when we switched colours but it’s bringing the dream to life.”
“We have your on our team after all, “Angelica chimed in and a big smile covered Lily’s face.
“Please, don’t try to butter me up.

Angelica shook her head, turning to get a better look at Lily. Tm not trying to butter you up ma’am. I was being genuine. From the first day Lily walked in and took charge of their team, a deep sense of admiration for her had formed in Angelica’s heart, and till date. Lily hasn’t yet failed to meet any of her expectations.
A blush coated Lily’s checks at the compliment. Thank you, Angelica. I appreciate it” “You’re welcome.” Silence engulfed the both of them afterwards, and Angelica racked her brai

her brain, thinking of ways to present her invitation to Lily.
“Would you like to come out with me for a drink?” She clamped her lips shut, a hopeful glint in her eyes as soon as she asked her question.
Lily’s brows shot up at the question, and a small smile slowly crept on her face, but before she could tend in a response, her phone rang loudly. “Please excuse me. She fished around her bag for her phone, and the second she brought it out, all traces of a smile disappeared from her face. Her father’s name was displayed boldly on the screen. “E–excuse me.” Her voice came out shaky, and Angelica frowned, but she couldn’t do anything as Lily walked out.
“He–hello…” Her heart drummed loudly in her chest, and she kept wiping g her left palm on her skirt to rid it of the sweat forming on it.
“Lily, I want you home in the next 30 minutes. Her eyes widened and she turned to the direction where she left Angelica.
“Dad, I don’t think I can…
“Come alone, and do not make excuses” Before Lily could get another word in, he ended the call
An exasperated sigh left her lips, and her hands slumped to her sides, her shoulders sagging in resignation. She glanced at Angelica and sighed again.
Her first invite out in God knows how long, and she has to turn it down for. Her heart dropped to her stomach when the realization that her father has called her home, alone, dawned on her yet again.
Her eyes darted to her phone and she considered calling Asher. No one will say anything or do anything if

Chapter 31
She winced as she felt the pain of the whip slashing across her back. Reads of sweat formed on her head and trickled down her face. What if he was calling her back for the stunt she pulled at the hospital?
She took a huge gulp of air as she parked in the driveway. She was an adult now, he wouldn’t whip her again, right?
Taking her phone, she punched in Asher’s number and was ready to dial but on a second thought, she tucked her phone away. She would only create more damage for herself.
She took a deep breath and looked at herself in the mirror. “You will be fine, Lily.” She picked up her bag, and walked out of the car.
Charlotte was the first person she met as soon as she stepped out of the car, and she looked like she hasn’t been in the hospital for a year despite having been there just a few days ago.
“Sister…” She sakl mockingly, “you are here.”
Lily arched a brow, and narrowed her eyes. Charlotte’s presence was already a bad omen, but the tone with which she spoke signifies something worse than she expects. Each time she was in trouble, Charlotte sparkled and her tone always mocked her, and this was no different.
Her eyes flicked over to the mansion and she bir the insides of her cheeks. If she has survived all the years she did with them, whatever they were about to throw at her, she would survive it, no matter how painful… Right?
Brushing past Charlotte without saying a word, Lily made her way into the house while Charlotte followed closely behind.
“You are here,” Mr Morgan said the second he set eyes on her and Lily gulped, nodding. “Good. Im just going to get straight to the point. Lily’s eyes found her mother’s, but her mom quickly looked away, and a warning bell went off in her head. Her mother never held her something big was about to happen. It was her way of hiding her guilt.

“Your sister as you can see is back.” Lily’s attention went back to her father, but she couldn’t help but notice the smug look on Charlotte’s face.” She is the one that was meant to marry Asher, she’s Asher rightful wife.
Lily’s eyes slowly widened when she realized where this was probably heading to. “You can’t possibly be…
You are to divorce Asher Allard in 3 days,” he said and flung an envelope to her. “That contains the divorce papers. Make sure he signs it.”
