Lily watched Asher leave the house with a mix of emotions, and a number of questions swirling in her mind. Where on Earth was he going? Was he mrying to give her space because of what transpired between them a while agot… What even happened? She sighed heavily when she heard the car de out of the house, and she best on her heels and marched back to her room only to be greeted with the sight of the collectibles on the bed.

Asher rolled his eyes and sighed. He was insufferable. “I thought the time you spent travelling and hiding from the business world would have made you less annoying. Apparently not.”

When he first met Asher during their college days, he almost lost his mind at how mean–spirited the dude was. He said all the wrong and painful things, yet somehows, it always felt like he cared. Over time, he learnt that he did, but was too much of an ass to say it, so he decided to stick around with the asshole.
“Why did you call me out so late?” Asher glanced at his watch, then back at Christopher. “Unlike you, I don’t have the luxury of staying out so late. I have a wife”
The world seemed to go silent for a while and Christopher blinked, once, twice. “Sorry, what did you just say?”

Christopher hammed in response, his gare fixed on Asher’s face, while Asher avoided his eyes altogether. After a while, he took a deep breath, crossing one leg over the other. “I’m all ears. Tell me everything.”

A resigual sigh escaped Asher’s hips and he leaned back, placing his head on the chair as all that has happened the past month came pouring into his end, and without even meaning to, he began narrating everything to Christopher.

Asher shrugged and stopped his drink again. “I just know that I wouldn’t. I didn’t fall for her in the past 5 years, what makes you think that I will in 45 days?”

Asher’s eyes narrowed suspiciously. “What bet? If it’s something silly, I’m out.”
“Believe me, you’ll want in on this. The bet is you’re going to fall for her before the days are up, but your pride won’t let you keep her. You’ll think you are doing her a favour, when in reality you are just a coward.”
“I can see you are having fun insulting me. Christopher snorted and shrugged “Fine, but I bet I wouldn’t fall for her at all.”
