Chapter 24
“Charlotte, what are you doing here?” Asher was the first to snap it of their daze and speak.
Charlotte turned to face him, her eyes that were shooting daggers at Lily just a second ago seemed to soften a little when she turned to look at Asher..
“How can you ask me that?” She screeched and Asher drew his head back in confusion. “I’ve sent you over a hundred text messages and you are yet to reply to any of them! I came to check on you to see if you’re okay, and what do I walk in on? You playing house with this little whore.
You will watch your tone, Charlotte.” He said, all traces of confusion disappeared from his face and were immediately replaced with anger.
Startled by the change in his expressions and his tone, tears formed in Charlotte’s eyes. “This is the second time you are dismissing me so disrespectfully and it’s all because of her Shevelled and everyone winced. “I am not going to stand for this. It’s all coming to an end, today!”
Before any of them could wrap their heads around what she possibly meant, she had brought down 3 of the picture frames and smashed them into bits and pieces.
What on earth do you think you are doing?” Asher yelled, reaching out to stop her but she broke 3 others in the process.
“That’s enough Lily whispered, exhausted as she watched all her hard work go to complete waste, but they were too engrossed in their fight to pay any heed to her, She opened her mouth to tell them to stop it, but decided against it last minute and just quietly walked out on them and headed straight to her room. She made sure to lock the door behind her, before she slowly crawled into bed.
Her throat burned as she covered herself with the duvet from all the unshed tears she was holding in, but she was too tired to cry. This was the moment the song, no tears left to cry was talking about. She felt the anger and frustration deep in her bones, she was bitter, irritated and tired of Charlotte swooping in at the last freaking minute each time to destroy all she has worked hard for, but all she could do was take a breath and close her eyes.
Her phone chimed with a notification, and she opened it, expecting a nasty text from Charlotte, hoping it’d set her off and make her cry to release all the pent up emotions, but it was the email Mrs Darby talked about.
Her eyes glossed over it, yet she couldn’t mutter up any excitement for it. She felt a teardrop roll down from the bridge of her nose till it disappeared on the sheets and she slowly expelled a breath, tossing her phone away.
She was going to sleep and then, maybe tomorrow, she would have slept all her anger and frustration away, then she’d finally be excited once again.
It didn’t happen.
Lily woke up the next morning in the foulest mood and with a bone aching exhaustion. All she wanted to do was roll over as many times as she could and sleep all day, but no matter how long and how hard she tried, she couldn’t get back into bed. The memories of last night jarred her memories, ruining her morning even further. She felt like screaming and bringing the whole house down, but she was too exhausted to do that.
Eventually, she forced herself out of bed and freshened up. Deciding to give herself another shot at getting excited, she pulled up the email from last night and read through it. Images of the house were attached, and a team was assigned to her, willing to start whenever she was ready, and she was promised a good compensation too, yet none of that was enough to cheer her up.
Her stomach grumbled, alerting her for the need for food but the thought of walking downstairs to meet a downgrade version of the living room she spent hours redecorating horrified her and kept her rooted to the bed. But when her stomach consistently reminded her of her need for food, she readied herself and went downstairs.

have someone destroy it.
She paused on the last stair case and took a deep breath before he walked into the living room. She promised herself that she was just going to walk straight to the dining without looking any of the walls that were probably empty now, but as soon as she walked in, she broke her promise.
Her eyes immediately darted to the wall that had their wedding picture, the first thing Charlotte broke last night and she frowned. The picture was right there on the wall. She quickly turned to the next, and there was the other picture. Her heart immediately skipped a beat, and she did a mini tour of the room with her eyes and every picture was back in its original spot like nothing happened to it last night.
“There’s no way…” She whispered, trying to decipher if all that happened last night was a figment of her imagination or a dream. She immediately ran to the dining room in search of Asher so he could explain everything, but she met the dinning room empty and a bouquet of flowers sat pretty in the middle of the table alongside a note and her breakfast.
She immediately picked up the note and read through it.
I tried my best to put them back in their original place. I hope you like it. To make up for it even more, I made dinner reservations for us. Be ready by 7PM, a new dress will be delivered before then. Enjoy your breakfast and the sight of your favourite flowers for now
