Chapter 13
Lily and Asher went to another restaurant and had their breakf there, and Lily took that opportunity to tell Asher everything she had discussed with Mrs Darby, Gloria.
A big smile stretched across Asher’s face at the news, and he wanted to tell her how proud he was of her. Instead, he cleared his throat and raised his glass of juice, “Congratulations on securing such a deal. It’s one that doesn’t come easy. The grin on Lily’s face widened, and she raised her glass as well. They both clinked it together, before taking a sip and setting it down “Also, thank you very much for securing an invite to that dinner party. It’ll give me an opportunity to finalize the de with Mr Darby, we already went over some of the important detalls earlier this morning. I was misinformed about him rejecting the deal.”
The worry that had been unconsciously etched on Lily’s heart about the dinner party disappeared with his words. Asher wasn’t one to attend such events, and all these while she’s been married to him, they’ve only gone for 2 dinner parties. Their wedding dinner party, and his 10th year anniversary party as CEO. She had been worried he’d say no to this as well, and she’d have to miss out on yet another wonderful opportunity. Rasing her glass to her lips, she took another sip of the juice. and swallowed the question that had popped into her head as she thought of his invitation. Would he still have gone if his business deal wasn’t involved? A large part of her already believes that he wouldn’t, he after all hasn’t given her a reason to think otherwise, therefore she chose to swallow her question and spare herself the chance to be hurt adversely by his
response.
“Are you done with your meal?” Asher asked when he noticed she was no longer eating, and Lily gazed down at her almost uneaten food. She had been so excited her appetite shriveled, and she was so busy telling Asher everything to even eat a decent amount. “It’s probably cold now.” She scooped a tiny size on her fork and took a bite, before she nodded at him. “It is, but thankfully… I’m not that hungry. I’m craving a hot shower, a change of outfits and a comfortable bed.”
“Good. That’s exactly what I want to. Let’s go back to the hotel and rest up.”
They both walked out of the restaurant into the car, and they had a silent but excited drive home. Their minds were filled with thoughts of the success of what they came for, and the comfortability of the bed they’d soon sink themselves into. Their bubble of happiness was however popped when they walked into the hotel and found their luggage still at the reception.
Annoyance bubbled inside of Asher because that could only mean 2 things, they forgot to do as they were told or they messed up his booking, and heaven help them it’s the later.
“Any reason my luggage are still out here?” He asked as he walked up to the receptionist, whose Adam’s apple bobbed up and down as he swallowed heavily.
“I’m sorry sir, we’ve been trying to rectify the issue with your room booking” Asher drew a deep breath and pinched the spot in between his brows. “There was an overbooking sir, we thought you’d be arriving tomorrow instead. The person at the presidential suite you booked signs off tomorrow, hence the room isn’t…”
“A five star hotel shouldn’t be making measly mistakes like that Your explanation does nothing to alleviate the mess you’ve put I, my wife, and our business in. What do you expect us to do with your explanation? Hug you and nod in understanding then sleep outside?” He asked, boiling with rage
He considered getting another hotel, but there were none close by, and He particularly chose this one instead of lodging at his because it was closer to the Darby’s. Switching now when they have a dinner party tomorrow night would make everything harder than it should be.
Glaring at the receptionist, he leaned forward on the desk. “What are you going to do about this?” He gritted out, and the scrawny looking receptionist began to type away at his computer
“A VIP suite is s available sir. It’s a room with double beds. Just for tonight sir.”
Asher nodded and leaned away from him. He wanted separate rooms for him and Lily, as they’ve never had to share one. but just for tonight he could tolerate such a room, it was after all wo beds. He walked over to Lily and explained everything

to her, and she eagerly agreed. She had watched him scare the pur receptionist to death and wouldn’t want him to continue doing so, so she lodged away her discomfort at having to share a room with him even if it was just for a night. The receptionist handed the key card to him, and called for a porter who carried their luggage.
Things however got worse when they walked into the room and they noticed it was just one king sized bed Asher hissed in annoyance at the sight, and he could only think of burning the stupid hotel to the ground.
Lily noticed the look on his face, and she immediately cleared her throat, drawing his attention to her. “The room is nice, don’t you think? The bed is big enough for the both of us as well. It’s almost like two beds”
Asher’s nerves relaxed a bit when he noticed the game she was playing. It was so like her to stand in and protect others. but the thought of her doing this to protect that scrawny looking boy down at the reception hall irked him, and ignited a need to mess with her.
“So, you have no problem sharing a bed with me?” He asked, raising a brow as he took a step towards her.

immediately took two back, taken aback by his question and the look on his face. “Wha–what are you saying?” She asked, backing away while Asher advanced closer to her, like a predator hunting his prey. “The bed is big enough for us. We won’t

“It’ll be our first time sharing a bed, Lily,” He took one more step towards her, and Lily tried to back away but found her back pressed against the wall. “Don’t you think that’s a bit dangerous?” Using his thumb, he slowly flicked away the strand of hair on her face, making sure to softly caress her skin as he did.
Heat flooded Lily’s face at the contact, and she stared at him wide–eyed, her heart thumping loudly and fastly, this was the first time he has ever touched her like this… And it was soft. She wanted to reach out and trail the spots his finger caressed but she knew better, her body however didn’t
Asher stared down at her flushed cheeks, and he couldn’t keep his mind from producing the most sinful thoughts ever. She has never looked at him like that, not with the flush in her face, and the brazen look in her eyes. “It’s dangerous for us to stay together on that bed. Lily.” He whispered, resisting the urge to touch her again.
“How dangerous can it be?” She retorted and he raised his brows. “We are married after all.” Asher inhaled sharply at her words, and immediately separated himself from her.
“I am going to take a shower first.” He said and ran off to the bathroom, while Lily stood, pressed up against the wall and horrified by the words that left her mouth.
