Chapter 7
Sameya hatralmed down considerably after returning home. She was one day closer to her departure when she woke up.
She went alone in watch a concert by her favorite singer, recording the stunning sea of blue lights as thousands of fans clorerlin imion
de then planed the video to the top of her social media page and cleared out all the posts she had shared during her relationship with Xavion. Krunwing she was leaving to chase her dreams, her close friends flooded the comments with encouragement,
“Camryn, Thope I can become your biggest fan someday!”
“Future superster, can I pre–order an autograph?”
Even Xavion, who had been silent for days, pae the post a lilie..
Sering the imexpected notification, Camryn was momentarily taken aback. She remembered that Xavion never posted on social media and rarely checked others” uplates..
It wasn’t until she saw several messages from Yvette that she understood the reason.
Camryn, I followed that woman’s Instagram! I’m so pissed!”
Attached were screenshots of Zara’s posts showcasing her daily life.
The sunset over r the ocean, leisurely strolls through fields of flowers, candlelit dinners with a cityscape backdrop.
There was a comment from Xavion under every post.
“Why didn’t you share the photo I took?”
“I heard the maple trees on West Hill are blooming.
Let’s po
go there in a couple of days.”
“The shrimp were hard to peel, but I don’t mind since you like them.”
Scrolling through the posts felt like a glimpse into a typical romantic relationship.
So, Xavion had been busy leaving comments for Zara and only stumbled across Camryn’s post by chance, giving it a like as an alterthought
With a faint smile, Camryn reassured Yvette before she began sorting through the gifts Xavion had given her, the matching items they’d bought as a couple, the photos they had taken together, and the journal entries she had written from the past three years.
Camryn made a few trips downstairs with the boxes she intended to throw away. Just as she was about to dispose of them, she noticed Xavion, who had returned unexpectedly.
Eyes and demeanor brimming with subtle cheer, he seemed to be in a good mood.
The moment he saw her, his steps faltered briefly before he changed direction to approach her.
“What’s in the boxes? Are you throwing all this away?” he asked.
“Just some useless clutter”
Xavion nodded, handed her the cake he was holding, and bent down to help her with the boxes.
The sight of the cake left Camryn momentarily stunned. “Why did you buy a calor out of nowhere?”
Xavion stopped what he was doing and looked at her with a faintly displeased expression.
“You don’t remember? It’s my birthday.”
Birthday?
Camryn only now recalled that his birthday was r
right around the comer.
A month ago, Camryn had been racking her brain over what gift to prepare for Xavion. But after finding out she was merely a stand–in and deciding to leave him, she had pushed this out of her mind entirely.
After all, he would soon be her ex–boyfriend. Why bother remembering his birthday?
When Xavion noticed the brief flash of realization on her face, his breathing grew slightly heavier.
Earlier today, he had received birthday wishes from many people,
But not a single word from Camryn. He had thought she might be planning a surprise for him.
It turned out that she had forgotten about his birthday.
Xavion couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but there was a strange heaviness in his chest, even though this didn’t matter much.
In the past, whether it was his birthday or any other special occasion, Camryn would always prepare meticulously and make a big celebration out of it How could she have forgotten this year when she loved him the most?
Just as he was about to say something, his phone chimed with several notifications.
She had organized a birthday party for him and sent over the location. Alongside her message were teasing comments from his friends in the group chat.
non tightened his grip on his phone, his earlier gloom replaced by a faint smile.
As he began typing a reply while walking away, Camryn called out to him.
“Your birthday…
Xavion hesitated for a moment. “I have something to take care of right now. Let’s celebrate together later tonight.”
Camryn responded with a quiet hum and silently watched him walk away.
Once his figure completely disappeared, she threw out the boxes she had prepared earlier.
Thinking of the delight on Xavion’s face earlier, she realized that he wouldn’t be coming back to celebrate his birthday with her tonight.
Strangely, she felt a sense of relief.
The trash bin was almost full. She tossed the cake into it as well before she turned to head upstairs.
A few hours later, Camryn received a message from Zayne.
“We’re leaving tomorrow at 9:00 am. I’ll come pick you up.”
She replied with a simple “Okay” but then suddenly received a voice message from one of Xavion’s friends.
“Camryn, come to Siltom Hotel Something happened to Xavion. Hurry!”
Hearing the urgency in his tone, Camryn froze for a moment.
The next second, Yvette called her, her voice choked with sobs.
“Camryn, Xav.. He
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Camryn quickly ran downstairs and flagged down a cab.
