Chapter 11
The burning pain on his cheek momentarily brought Xavion back to his senses.
He looked at his enraged sister, his face caught between a bitter smile and the verge of tears.
“Lican explain Just tell me where she is
Hearing this, Yvette laughed out of sheer anger. As she glared at him coldly, she finally let loose the words she had held back for far too long.
“Explain? Explain what? Are you going to explain how you treated Camryn as a substitute for three whole years? Xavion, do you really have to disgust Camryn and me to this extent?
“Where she went has nothing to do with you. She’s finally let go of the past and is starting a new life. Don’t you know that the best thing an ex can do is act like they’re dead?
“Why don’t you go to Zara? Isn’t she the one you were willing to die for, even at the expense of your family? Marry her already and get out of the Jacobson family. I don’t need a brother like you!”
Her voice cracked with emotion as she reached the end, tears threatening to spill over.
Yvette then shoved him out of her room and slammed the door shut with a loud bang.
Navion stood before the closed door, feeling the last shred of hope in his heart shatter with the banging of the door.
Did Camryn know that he had treated her as a substitute?
He felt as if all the strength had drained from his body. Staggering backward, he nearly lost his balance.
All the guilt and regret that he had buried deep inside erupted like a volcano at that moment, swallowing him whole.
Meanwhile, Zara walked into the ward with a container of chicken soup, only to find the room empty. She paused for a moment.
A nurse tidying up medical equipment nearby muttered incessantly under her breath, “What’s so urgent that he even pulled out his IV?”
Zara’s heart sank at those words. She quickly pulled out her phone to contact Xavion.
Text after text went unanswered, and he wasn’t picking up her calls either.
After waiting another half hour with no response, Zara grew frustrated and called Charles Shay
“Where’s Kavion? Has he contacted you?”
“Camryn broke up with him. He’s home-”
The moment she heard the first sentence, all her irritation vanished and was replaced by elation. Her eyes lit up as she ended the call, grabbed her bag. and cheerfully stepped out the door.
Hailing a cab, she didn’t bother letting anyone know as she headed straight for Jacobson Residence.
If Camryn had been so sensible as to initiate the breakup, then Xavion was entirely hers now.
The thought of having him completely under her control, along with the endless resources and connections of the Jacobson family, filled her with satisfaction and anticipation.
When the car stopped at the villa gates, the family butler, Jason Gold, spotted her and approached to announce her arrival.
Zara waved him off and walked right in.
As soon as she entered the living room, she saw Xavion sitting at the base of the stairs, head bowed as he typed furiously on his phone..
Purting on her warmest smile, she gently called his name.
Xavion didn’t even lift his head. He seemed like he hadn’t heard her.
Instead, the sound of a door opening came from the second floor. Yvette stepped out in her sleepwear, glaring down at Zara with ley disdain. “Our family doesn’t welcome just any stray. Jason, escort her out!”
Zara was stunned. She had never expected Yvette to humiliate her like this right in front of Xavion
Anger bubbled inside her, but mindful of her status, she swallowed her frustration and stiffly tried to change the subject.
“I’m be to see Xavion. What does this have to do with you?” she insisted.
“In that case, the two of you can leave together.”
Hearing Yvette’s blatant disgust, Jason flinched behind her, quickly signaling for Zara to leave
For Zara, the gesture felt no different than a public humiliation
She stomped her feet in frustration, walking up to Xavion’s side and pouting as she began to complain. “Xavion, I didn’t do anything to provoke your sister. Why is she always against me?”
Xavion Litted his lifeless, pale face to look at her, his eyes devoid of the warmth and affection they once held. “Just go home,” he murmured.
Zara stood there in shock. Xavion didn’t defend her as she thought he would. She stared up at the smug Yvette, disbelief written all over her face.
You want me to leave? Xavion, think carefully. If I walk out that door, I’ll never set foot in your house again, even if you beg me in the future!”
At her threat, Navion was on the verge of breaking down. His voice was fraught with agitation. “Stop making a scene. Just let me calm down for a minute, okay?”
From his tone, Zara could tell something was off with him. She was about to ask him what was going on when Yvette impatiently cut in. “We don’t welcome people like you. Are you deal?”
Jason, who had originally hoped to take advantage of the chaos, realized that Yvette was angry. Not daring to slack off any longer, he called for a few household staff to help escort Zara out of the house.
Refusing to leave, Zara struggled, and in the process, she overturned the coffee table.
The sharp sound of glass shattering filled the air as the pieces scattered across the floor.
The entire living room fell into an unsettling silence
Yvette, absolutely furious, rushed down to confront Zara
However, all the pent–up anger that had been ready to erupt suddenly held back when she looked up and saw the figures at the door. “Dad, Mom, why are you home already?”
