(Let Me Go, My Alpha Husband) Chapter 8

I didn’t comprehend the urgency, but his serious expression silenced me. He
drove frantically toward the healer’s den, his agitation evident in his speed. He
arrived twice as fast as usual. On the roof, we found a man holding Wanda
hostage.
Seeing Grant, Wanda cried, “Grant, aid me!”
Before I knew it, I was thrust forward. I heard Grant’s voice behind me,
“Observe? This is my companion.”
“Release Wanda. It is not about her. Even if you slay her, it will not suffice.”
“Yield your companion, and you shall receive what you desire.”
Then I understood. He brought me here to exchange me for Wanda’s safety!
The plan was clear.
This was a matter of a territorial dispute. This man had been stalking Grant
and Wanda, mistaking Wanda for his mate.
It was as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over me.
Grant kept pushing me forward. Was it not absurd? My mate spent his time
with another female, and now pushed me toward a criminal to save her.

The man looked at Wanda and me, hesitating. He had seen me while stalking
Grant, so he loosened Wanda slightly.
He looked around, preparing to exchange Wanda for me. At that moment,
the pack’s enforcers swarmed, disarming him and rescuing Wanda. The next
second, Grant rushed to Wanda.“Wanda, are you unharmed?”
Wanda collapsed into his arms, sobbing.“Grant, I was terrified…”
Only then did Grant remember I was still there. He asked, “Are you
unharmed?”
My eyes were vacant. Grant didn’t explain, he rarely did. Seeing my
expression, he sensed something was amiss.
“Rosie, it was a strategic maneuver. The enforcers had the area secured, and I
was merely a distraction.”
I knew he spoke the truth, but I didn’t care. Yes, it was a strategy, and I was
unharmed, but what if the plan had failed? My mate used me as bait.
In that moment, he was a stranger. Rosie, this is the one you’ve craved. Do
you regret it? Yes, I do.
It wasn’t too late to repair this.
Afterwards, Grant claimed Wanda was traumatized and needed him, so he

chose to stay with her. He’d forgotten that he’d thrust me into danger. It no
longer mattered. I was finished with him.
Once again alone, I erased all traces of Grant from my life. I gathered our
wedding pictures and burned them, the flames consuming the remnants of my
foolish devotion.
I discarded everything that reminded me of him: the shared possessions, the
tokens of our supposed bond. They all ended up in the refuse heap. I would never
need them again.
