“Let Me Go, My Alpha Husband) Chapter 1
Menu
A month before my wedding to Grant, the Alpha, we were locked in a brutal,
snarling fight. The scent of his deception hung heavy in the air – a rank musk
overlaid on his usual potent alpha pheromones. He wanted a pup with Wanda,
the runt of a pack, the daughter of his mentor.
“It’s merely the joining of bloodlines,” he growled, his voice low and
dangerous.“A simple IVF. I will not defile myself with her. My mentor’s time is
short, and his dying wish is for Wanda to bear a child with the strongest lineage. I
am the only one she can turn to.” The words were clipped, sharp as a wolf’s teeth.
My initial shock and rage had curdled into a bitter helplessness, a cold dread
settling in my bones. The primal fear of abandonment clawed at me.
“We are to be wed in a moon–turn, and you’d seed another’s womb? Is this
not madness?” My voice trembled, a whimper barely audible above the pounding
of my heart.
Tears, hot and bitter, stung my eyes. I’d held them back for so long, but now
they streamed down my face, a river of my despair.
Grant was startled. He rarely saw me show such weakness. He opened his
mouth to speak, a low rumble in his chest, but his phone’s shrill ring cut him off.
He glanced at the glowing screen, and when his gaze returned to me, the storm in
his eyes had vanished, replaced by a cold, calculating stillness.

“I must leave,” he said, his voice flat, devoid of any warmth.“Calm yourself,
human.”
As he stalked away, the truth hit me with the force of a predator’s strike: For
all these years, I’d been nothing more than his shadow, his devoted follower
In college, Grant, a magnificent Alpha, stood apart, untouched. He was the
apex predator of our social circle, his powerful scent drawing the attentions of
many but repelling any advances. His aloofness startled most, but not me. He
was drawn to me with an intensity he failed to express. I persisted despite his
cold indifference, my own scent somehow alluring him.
Years later, he remained distant, but that didn’t deter me. I was a sun, and he
was a cold moon. Now he was seeking the pack’s growth, but what about my
feelings.
My phone vibrated. A screenshot of Wanda’s message.
Wanda: Grant, Father may not last the next moon. Let us simply forget the
formalities and begin the ritual of bonding! Please!
Grant: I am on my way.
It was a blow, raw and brutal. The cold indifference masked his desperation.
Finally, I understood his hasty departure. Overwhelm threatened to break
me, a wave of despair threatening to drown me. I desperately needed to scream

and cry but lacked the energy, completely exhausted.

I stared at my reflection. A stranger looked back at me. Others saw a vibrant
spirit, but I saw only the shadows gathering on my horizon.
For Grant, I’d changed, molded myself to his liking, only to be cast aside for
a bloodline–strengthening maneuver.
A reckless thought took root. Fine. If he held my feelings so cheap, I would
end it, severing the connection before it completely destroyed me.
I took a deep breath, unlocked my phone, and posted a defiant message,
knowing he wouldn’t see it.
“I’m to be wed in a moon–turn, and I require a new mate. Any takers?”
Most assumed it was jest, offering amused comments. Just as despair
threatened to consume me, a call came in.
Jake!
