«MoonlitMountain) Chapter 13
In Italy. My friend showed me the gossip about Caleb.
“Sarah, look!”
I glanced at the screen, then said, “Oh.”

“That’s it?” My friend was surprised. I shrugged. “What else should I say?”
Everyone in the art circle knew about my past, Caleb’s accident, and the
divorce. They had also heard some of the things Caleb did, and they believed that
he had it coming. Even the stupidest man in the world wouldn’t give up his wife
for someone else’s.
My friend exclaimed, “If I were you, I’d slap him!”
I laughed. From the moment I went abroad, I stopped paying attention to
Caleb. Late at night, a call disrupted my painting. It was a classmate.
“Sarah, Caleb’s gone crazy!”
Crazy? I frowned. One by one Olivia and I left him, and he became a decadent alcoholic. I used to be the one who made him hangover soup, but I was
gone. He missed me so much, but he didn’t even know where I was. To
compensate me, he stopped going to his company and spent most of his time
getting revenge on those who’d hurt me. Even Chloe was sent to Paris. Was he

I touched the roses on the windowsill and lowered my eyes. From the day I
agreed to the contract, I’d seen Caleb as my job. All I wanted was finish my job and leave. I’d originally planned to finish my studies according to Judith’s arrangement, but I changed my flight to Italy. I focused on my work and stopped
thinking about Caleb. His longing for me might be true but it was too late.
I went to the studio, my friend was waiting for me. I gave her a birthday gift,
and we chatted until someone told us the class was canceled because a famous
artist was giving a lecture.
The lecture hall was packed, and we squeezed in. When the speaker came in,
the room fell silent. He was exceptionally handsome. I gasped at the moment I
saw him. I recognized him.
