Silas wouldn’t give her the chance. He’d wronged Amelia enough. If there
was any hope of reconciliation, the baby had to go.
He signaled to the guards. They dragged Bethany, kicking and screaming, to
the hospital.
She fought, but it was no use. They strapped her to the operating table. The
anesthetic flowed into her veins, her limbs growing heavy, her eyelids fluttering

Despair washed over her. The guards were there, waiting, their presence a
silent command to record her public apology to Amelia.
Silas watched the apology video online. He felt a flicker of satisfaction, but
no joy. What good was an apology? It wouldn’t bring Amelia back.

child.
His friends, hearing he was there, sent in a parade of young attractive women.“Whoever can make him feel better tonight will be set for life,” one
whispered.
The women filed in, vying for his attention.
Mr. Sterling… a stunning brunette purred, sliding onto the seat next to him.
Her hand snaked under his shirt.
“Get away from me!” He grabbed a bottle and smashed it over her head.
Blood splattered. She screamed. He kicked her away in disgust.“Who sent you?
Get out! All of you!”
The women fled, terrified. Better to be groped by strangers than to end up
bleeding and broken for nothing.
