John went straight to the detention center. Raina had appealed her sentence
and was awaiting the final verdict.
He entered the detention center, accompanied by two police officers, and
waited anxiously in the room next to the interrogation room for the results of
Raina’s questioning.
Raina was brought in, her face pale, but her eyes still held a hint of defiance.
The police officer, his expression stern, stared at Raina intently.“Raina
Monroe, you switched John Miller’s baby years ago. Tell us the truth, where is
the child you switched her with?” he demanded.
Raina raised her head slightly, glancing at the officer, a sinister smile playing
on her lips. “The child?” she said, her voice cold. “His child is long dead, stop
dreaming.”
The officer frowned, his voice rising. “You better tell the truth, don’t try to
get lucky!”
Raina chuckled, her tone nonchalant.“Think about it, John brought his
newborn baby to me to look after, while he went off to a business function,
without even a nanny,” she said, her words dripping with sarcasm.
“That baby wouldn’t stop crying, it was driving me crazy, so I ignored her,

thinking she would eventually tire herself out and fall asleep.”

“But when I checked on her later, she wasn’t breathing. I was afraid John
would blame me, and his mother would definitely hate me even more if the baby
was gone.”
“So I quickly bought a baby girl from a child trafficker and let John take her
home. He didn’t even notice the baby had been switched when he came to pick.

Raina’s voice remained cold. “I threw it far away, maybe it was eaten by wild
dogs…”
The officer slammed his hand on the table. “Answer the question honestly!
Don’t try to hide anything!”
Raina closed her eyes, remaining silent for a moment before speaking.“I
think it was by the roadside near a cemetery in the west. It was too dark, I didn’t

dare go further in. I saw no one around, so I threw it in a tree pit.”

John, listening from the next room, cursed. “Raina, how could you be so
cruel? You didn’t even spare a baby? You left her body exposed in the wilderness!”
Hearing John’s voice, Raina’s composure shattered, her voice becoming
hysterical. Cruel? Who gave me a chance? The baby died on her own, you didn’t
take good care of her, why blame me?”
“I even bought you a daughter, you should be grateful! If I’m cruel, it’s
because of you, you useless man! If you had insisted on marrying me, none of
this would have happened.”
The officer finished taking her statement and asked Raina to sign it for
confirmation.
Raina hesitated for a moment, then looked up, a hint of worry in her
eyes.“The baby died naturally, you won’t blame me for it, right?” she asked.
The officer stared at her coldly, his expression impassive. “You should trust
that the law is fair and just, all judgments will be based on facts,” he said
solemnly.
Raina scoffed, but eventually signed the statement before being led away by
the guards.
John was left alone, like an empty shell, devoid of energy. He collapsed onto

After a long moment, John finally came back to his senses.

shouted at the empty air,“Raina Monroe, you’ve added another crime to your list.
Even if you appeal, you won’t escape the death penalty! I’ll watch you get
you deserve!”

“My colleague accompanied Mr. Miller to see Raina Monroe,” he said calmly.”
