I lowered my gaze and shook my head.
Stabbing her eye is not something I regret.
Memories flooded back.
When I first arrived at my stepdad’s house, she glared viciously behind my mom’s back,
“You’re Lexi, right? Better make yourself scarce around here, or I’ll make your life hell!”
Every time my mom and stepdad hit me, she’d stand behind them, sneering,

Upon learning of the patient’s death under Iris’s surgery, she told the family,
“This kind of doctor just doesn’t care, only in it for the money, indifferent to whether patients live or die! Maybe your loved one didn’t even need surgery; she probably did it just to make money, killing him in the process!”
The surge of hatred was overwhelming. If I hadn’t restrained myself, that knife would have done more than just blind her.
I waited quietly. When the voting results were announced, my heart sank.

My stepdad’s family exploded with joy, embracing each other in celebration.
I couldn’t help but smile wryly; it wasn’t over just yet.
The judge’s expression was complex as he slowly brought down the gavel.
