Chapter 11
Christopher tumed around and saw Rebeccadabbing at her injuries with extreme care, almost as if she was afraid to hurt herself further. Her movements were Lauteous, vet the pain still made her wince and let out a soltery
Seeing her hiss through berteeth, Christopher’s gaze daskened, without a word, he strode over, snatched the cotton swab from her hand, and knelt beside her. The briel touch of his war fingers against hers sent a jolt through Rebecca, and she immediately recoiled as it burned
Christopher noticed her reaction and said, “Relax. I’m not going to touch you like that. You’re making it harder on yourself. Let me handle this—it’ll be faster and Jesspainful”
Without waiting for her response, he began applying medicine to her forehead. Rebecca became so acutely aware of his proximity that she barely felt any pain.
Her attention was completely focused on his hands, which were elegant and strong. She caught herself wanting to touch them. She quickly shook her head to clear these thoughts.
She knew that she would not have hestrated to touch his hand in her past life. After all, she had been attracted to worthless men like Leroy in her past life, so she had no standards for men. Hence, it was only natural for her to be intrigued by someone outstanding like Christopher.
The sudden movement caused Christopher to miss his mark with the cotton swab. He shot her a sharp look “Why are you moving?I didn’t even press that hard.”
Rebecca cleared her throat awkwardly. “Maybe 1 should do this myself.
“I’d rather not hear you yelp in pain. Let’s get this done so that we can question those two,” Christopher replied firmly.
Rebecca was annoyed, thinking, “1 wasn’t even whining!”
After treating her forehead, they faced a dilemma. The woman had scratched up Rebecca’s back considerably during the struggle, and the marks still burned
Tiercely.
Rebecca said hesitantly, avoiding his gaze. “Mr. Grant, I should handle this p

to think I have any inappropriate intentions.”
She was taken aback by his selective interpretation. “Of course not! As someone adopted by the Grant family, you’re just like a brother to me. How could I possibly have ideas about my brother? But since the scratches are on my back, I’d prefer to handle it myself. After all, there are boundaries.”
Rebecca’s soft, sweet tone caught Christopher off guard, and a flicker of something unreadable passed through his eyes. His jaw tightened slightly, and after a pause, he handed her the cotton swab
He said, “Fine. Take care of it yourself. I’ll be waiting outside.”
“Got it,” Rebecca replied.
Christopher’s expression darkened. He warned, “Also, don’t call me your brother.”
He romed sharply and walked out, slamming the door behind him. Rebecca stared at the closed door and sighed. Why did even her attempts to be polite seem to backfire with him?
She pulled her shirt off and tomed to the mirror, awkwardly applying ointment to the scratches on her back. Each dab sent a sharp sting through her, and she could not help but gasp at the pain. Outside, Christopher leaned against the doorframe with his arms crossed, listening to her muffled sounds of discomfort.
Minutes later, Rebecca emerged from the room, dressed in Christopher’s oversized shirt, which tell to her thighs like a dress. Their eyes met, and for a moment Christopher paused.
The shirt made her look childlike, as if she had borrowed it from someone much older. However, it oddly added an air of closeness between them.
“Let’s go,” Christopher said, breaking the silence as he turned to lead the way
They stepped out of the guest house together, only to run into Ruby, who was rushing over with an urgent expression.
