Chapter 7
“Mom?” Benedict said uncertainly.
I couldn’t open my mouth, but I nodded with tears in my eyes.
He broke down, his emotions whirling out of control. “Who did this to you, Mom?”
His voice was trembling. He sounded like a helpless child. Suddenly, he stiffened. He had just realized- belatedly–that the “bitch” Yvonne was referring to was me.
Thankfully, Benedict didn’t take him long to calm down again. He picked up his tools. “Don’t worry, Mom. You’ll be fine. I will save you.”
He began checking me over. The more he looked, the more he trembled. His voice shook as he asked, “Mom, did Yvonne do all this to you? Including sewing up your private parts?”
I closed my eyes without saying anything.
My silence enraged Benedict. Several times, he tried to storm out of the room to look for Yvonne, but Dr. Jansen stopped him. “The most important thing right now is to treat the patient.”
Poor Benedict. He had always been a good son, but now, he was forced to face his own mother’s humiliation. Even worse, it was his beloved girlfriend who had caused this.
Under the effects of the anesthesia, I soon fell asleep.
When I woke up again, I was lying in a hospital bed.
Benedict was sitting beside me, his expression dark. He looked tired. There were bags under his eyes. When he saw me open my eyes, he rushed over immediately and began fussing around.
I remained silent the entire time.
“Mom, where’s Jeremy?” Benedict asked, his voice shaking. He looked hopeful.
At that, I finally burst into tears. “Jeremy? Who’s Jeremy?”
Benedict stumbled and fell to the ground. He forced out a smile. “What are you talking about, Mom? Jeremy’s my brother. He’s just about to turn seven. I bought him an Outoman figurine that’s taller than him for his birthday.
“Where’s Jeremy?”
Just then, Yvonne was brought into the room by two bodyguards. She yelled arrogantly, “Do you know who I am? How dare you lay your hands on me? I am Benedict Fuller’s girlfriend. I will marry him one day. You’ll regret offending me in the fu
She was just as arrogant and full of herself as ever.
The bodyguards brought her to my bed and forced her to kneel.
She looked up. When she saw me, her expression twisted further. “You bitch! How are you still alive? How

dare you show your face in front of me again?
“I’ll kill you for real this time!”
She broke free from the bodyguards and leaped toward me, hands outstretched like claws.
Almost instantly, Benedict kicked her to the ground
Yvonne stared at him in disbelief, looking hurt. “How can you hit me for this wretch? We’re done, Benedict Fuller! You hear me? I won’t forgive you even if you beg for forgiveness on your knees
Gritting his teeth, Benedict said, “This is my mother!”
Yvonne froze for a moment. Then, her expression changed instantly, “You’re Benedict’s mother? No wonder you look so much like Benedict.”
Her shift in attitude was truly amazing, but I did not have the energy to appreciate it.
I was so weak that I couldn’t even slap her, so I said to Benedict, “You wanted to know where Jeremy was, didn’t you? Ask her. She knows.”
Yvonne’s smile froze on her face. She looked around, only to meet with Benedict’s bloodshot eyes Swallowing, she stammered, “I… I don’t know.”
Benedict stood up and slapped her.
Yvonne’s cheek swelled up instantly.

Outraged, she grabbed his hand and tried to slap him back. “How dare you hit me! I’ll tell you where your brother is. He’s dead. Dead!”
