The Perfect Heiress’ Biggest Sin 23

Chapter 23

After the wedding, the guests trickled out, leaving only a few people behind in the hall

Evan was still slumped on the floor. The bandages around his chest were soaked through with blood. Yet, it seemed like he didn’t feel the pain. His eyes were vacant as he stared blankly ahead

Joselyn had changed out of her wedding dress. She now wore a simple white dress. She walked over to Evan’s side with a medical kit in hand and placed it gently in front of him

Your clothes are soaked in blood. You should clean yourself up,she said, her voice calm but distant

Evan slowly lifted his head. Pain and regret filled his eyes. Josie, do you reallynot love me anymore?”

joselyn didn’t answer. Her gaze was steady as she looked down at him. Evan felt like his heart was being crushed. The pain was so intense that he could hardly breathe. Joselyn spoke in a whisper, From now on, don’t come to Willesden. We won’t see each other again.”

His face turned pale as his voice trembled. Must you do this, Josie?”

Joselyn didn’t respond, simply turning to leave

Evan suddenly grabbed her wrist. Josie, do you really love him? Oris this just to get back at me?”

Joselyn paused for a moment. After several seconds of silence, she softly replied, I truly love him, Evan. Only a fool would use someone else for revenge.”

Evan’s hand fell away. He felt like his soul had been ripped out

After Joselyn left, he sat there and stared blankly ahead. His mind was in turmoil. Joselyn’s words echoed in his ears. I truly love him.”

His friends approached and patted him on his shoulder. Don’t do this to yourself, Evan. At least you tried.”

Evan didn’t respond. He lowered his head to stare at his hands. His eyes were filled with pain and regret

He knew he’d lost her. He’d lost the Joselyn who’d once only had eyes for him. And it was all his own doing

Two years later, on a sunny afternoon in Willesden, light poured through the curtains and into the room. Joselyn held her newborn daughter, her face soft with tenderness. Jarrett sat beside her, gently holding her hand. His eyes were filled with affection

Josie, look. She looks just like you,Jarrett murmured with a smile in his voice

Joselyn looked down at her daughter and gently brushed her small face. Yeah, her eyes are like yours, and her nose is like mine.”

Just then, the doorbell rang. Jarrett stood up to answer it, only to find a delicate gift box with a card attached

He picked up the card and glanced at it. His expression immediately turned complicated

He walked back into the room and handed the box to joselyn. Josie, this is from Evan.”

Joselyn, paused for a moment before taking the box. She opened it to find a document inside. Her eyes widened as she flipped through it. It was a 100% stock transfer agreement for Lloyd Group

She picked up the card and read the short message

I promised I’d surprise you for your birthday. It’s been two years, and I still haven’t kept that promise. The stocks are the gift I want to give you now. Below the transfer agreement is the gift I meant to give you two years ago. Could you take a look?”

Joselyn didn’t bother looking at it. She tossed the card and box into the trash

The wind blew across the box, revealing a ring inside
