Chapter 10
Liam couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off as soon as he stepped outside. He spent the entire day in a villa, and while everyone was laughing and talking around him, his mind was elsewhere.
His friends caught on to his troubled expression and came over, placing a bottle of beer in his left hand
“Liam, we threw this party to celebrate your recovery. Why are you so down? Is Marve’s surprise the only thing on your mind? It’s like we don’t even
exist to you.”
Watching their sly looks and silly faces, Liam remembered the call from earlier and realized three hours had already flown by.
He reached for the phone in his pocket to call Stephanie, only to find it dead. The battery was drained, and no matter how many times he hit the power button, it wouldn’t turn on.
With no other option, he handed his phone to someone nearby to get it charged and sat patiently for another ren minutes. When he finally couldn’t stand it any longer, he went to the balcony for fresh air.
The view from the third floor was spectacular.
Liam had a clear sight of the landscape stretching for miles, and his sharp eyes caught sight of a sports car racing toward him from far away.
Amid the green hills, clear waters, and white buildings, that brief flash of red was the only thing speeding by Liam began to peel off the bandage from his hand as the car got closer.
He saw that the black wound had scabbed over and scratched at its edge to relieve the itch, but it only made it worse.
Growing more frustrated, he tried to rewrap the bandage but caught sight of the car pulling up downstairs. He stopped what he was doing and looked down.
A guy in his early 20s hopped out of the driver’s seat and quickly moved to open the passenger door. Seconds later, Maeve showed up in a soft yellow dress.
Liam’s eyes widened in surprise. He was about to shout her name when the next thing he saw left him in shock.
Maeve placed her hands on the guy’s shoulders and kissed him
Liam could feel his blood rushing to his head, knocking the last of his reason out the window,
He clenched his fists, spun around, and kicked the balcony door open. Then, he climbed over the stairs ralling and leaped down.
Liam’s friends, who were enjoying themselves, were startled and hurried over to check on him, but he didn’t bother to explain. He simply shoved past them and sprinted out of the villa.
His friends were all hammered, and when they saw Liarn looking upset, they each grabbed a bottle of beer and took off after him.
By the time Liam and his friends reached the gate, Marve and the guy, oblivious to everything, were still locked in a passionate kiss.
Without thinking twice, Liamn yanked the guy away and threw a punch at his face with his right hand, even though it wasn’t fully healed yet.
The guy was taken by surprise but didn’t back off. He grabbed Liarn by the collar, and they started wrestling.
Blood gushed from Liam’s torn wound, staining both of their shirts a deep crimson in no time. But Liam didn’t seem to feel the pain, his rage driving him to take the guy down.
The guy wasn’t a pushover, either. He spotted the wound on Liam’s hand and wasted no time attacking his weak spot.
Liam’s friends sobered up fast when they saw what was happening. They rolled up their sleeves and dove into the fight.
With ten of them against him, the guy couldn’t hold his ground and was soon overpowered and beaten up,
Marve’s face went ashen when she saw how hard they were going at it, with Liam being the toughest of the bunch. She grabbed the bouquet of roses from the back seat and smashed it over Liam’s head.
The thorns raked down his face, running from his temples to his chin, leaving several cuts that stretched nearly eight inches long.
Blood seeped out in tiny droplets, making his skin even paler. His eyes were bloodshot, almost like they could explode any second. Liam turned to her, his face twisted with anger and bitterness but slowly faded into something distant and blank..
