Chapter 88
“Can I leave now?” I asked casually, and sure enough, Abigail shot me a disgusted glance.
She unlocked the car door, looking at me coldly as she spat, “Get out, you’re dirtying my car!”
I remained calm, completely unbothered by Abigail’s insults. On the contrary, I felt a sense of relief.
It would be best to avoid being in the same space as Abigail. Her entitlement only made me hate her more!
Abigail had completely exhausted any last shreds of goodwill I had for her.
I got out of the car and stood calmly by the roadside.
I had thought that Blair, who had been following us, would stop to take me home, and I had even prepared how to politely decline her offer.
But to my surprise, she simply drove past me without any intention of stopping.
Abigail’s and Blair’s cars sped away from my sight, one after the other.
I didn’t want to dwell on it, so I called a taxi home.
After all, Blair and I were on different pages. Her persistence left me feeling somewhat helpless.
However, I was woken up by a series of urgent knocks on the door early the next morning.
I didn’t even have time to put on my slippers, dragging my sleepy self to the door unsteadily.
“Sophia? What are you doing here?”
I turned to let her in.
I was slightly puzzled as I glanced at my phone and asked, “Isn’t today Saturday? Did I forget to tell you that we have weekends off?”
Sophia poured herself a glass of water, gulping it down before looking at me in surprise. ” Haven’t you seen the trending news?”
“Come on, it’s only seven in the Just woke up. I have no time to check the news on
my phone.”
I sat on the sofa, frustrated, as I hesitantly asked, “What’s the matter? Why are you looking for me?”
Sophia quickly handed me her phone. “Just take a look for yourself!”
Seeing her teasing me like this, I reluctantly took the phone and opened it.
Chapter Na
When I saw the news at the top of the trending 1), I was instantly stunned!
The headline read, “Business Maven Abigail and Heiress Blair Race Late at Night, Suspected of Having a Dispute!”
Sophia noticed my shocked expression. She looked at me in disbelief and asked, “You mean they were fighting over you, and you had no idea?”
“I… I really didn’t know.”
I shook my head, feeling as if the world had gone mad.
After I got out of Abigail’s car last night, I went straight home.
1 had thought that Blair didn’t want to drive me simply due to a last–minute commitment she had.
But I never expected that these two women had actually gone racing and, worse, ended up in a fight.
What on earth was happening?
Sophia leaned in with a gossipy look and whispered, “Do you want to know the inside scoop?”
“What inside scoop?”
I looked at her with suspicion. “You… Just tell me what you know.”
Sophia explained that she had been hiking with friends the previous night, and they happened to be on the same mountain where Abigail and Blair were racing!
When they came down, they saw Abigail and Blair arguing fiercely at the foot of the mountain.
Sophia looked at me with a curious expression and asked, “Do you want to know what they were arguing about?”
