Chapter 60
I decided not to refuse further after seeing Blair’s insistence that I accepted It.
I immediately transferred half of the payment to Sophia after hanging up.
She was stunned the moment she received the payment from me. She called me and asked shockingly, “Why did you suddenly transfer money to me?”
I laughed as I replied, “This is the first task I’ve taken on. We’ll split it. I’ll give you half of every payment I receive from now on.
Sophia immediately rejected it after hearing that “No. How can that be? Samuel, I’m just working for you. All I did was deliver a few things for you. How can I take this much? You can just pay me a monthly salary like Abigail used to
I smiled as I explained, “It’s alright. You’re considered my partner after all. Just take it. I wouldn’t have completed the task this quickly if it wasn’t for your help. We’ll split the payment in half from now on!”
Sophia reluctantly accepted the money under my persuasion.
I had always remembered how she helped me when I was desperate for money back then.
I had the means to make money now. There was no way I would forget her.
I was someone who would repay kindness. I would forever be grateful to those who had genuinely treated me well.
The success of my first song had also given me some renown.
Blair had been incredibly kind. She introduced me to plenty of valuable resources. My life had. become much fuller with work keeping me busy lately.
Abigail hadn’t appeared in my life for a long time now. However, it hadn’t impacted me at all, even without her.
I delivered the two songs two weeks later.
Sophia went out of her way to book dinner at a fancy restaurant. She intended to treat me to a meal after I received the money and split the earnings in half with her. She said she wanted to thank me as a significant person in her life.
I agreed with a smile before suddenly realizing that Abigail hadn’t disturbed me in a while.
What was going on?
She would harass me at least every few days before and never miss an opportunity to flaunt herself in front of me.
a
However, it seemed she hadn’t contacted me in long time, nor had she shown up in front of
me again.
It seemed her previous guilt and attempts to keep me around were never genuine.
Her heart had always been with Joshua.
I imagined the last press conference Incident must have hit him hard. She was probably staying by his side all this time and busy comforting her little lover.
But what did that matter? It had nothing to do with me anymore.
I returned to my rented apartment later that night before receiving an unexpected call from Blair.
Her voice was gentle on the other end of the phone as she chuckled and said, “Mr. Gebb, there’ll be a gala next week. A lot of musicians and creators will be there. Would you be interested in joining?”
Meanwhile, she sent me an invitation. My name was surprisingly on it.
This gala was considered top–tier in the industry. Many creators hoped to broaden their horizons, connect with new people, and make a name for themselves through this gala. I used to wish to attend, but I never had the opportunity to.
Now, I would make the most of this golden opportunity that Blair had presented me with. I ⚫ smiled and thanked her.
“Thank you, Ms. Shepherd. I’ll treat you to a meal sometime.”
However, she laughed and said, “Why wait until another time? I’m free today. How about having a meal now?”
