Chapter 59
The responsibility of coordinating with Blair and her father naturally fell on Sophia while I was hospitalized. She had also seamlessly stepped into the role of my assistant on the first day of my hospital stay.
However, she surprisingly handled everything with remarkable speed and efficiency when the time came despite her initial warnings about being unfit for the job.
Besides, she had also promptly provided me with feedback.
Their requirements weren’t extensive, yet precise adjustments were still required for the
details.
I breathed a sigh of relief and marveled at how I could still pick up my pen to create something even after all these years. Nothing had been wasted.
“Thank you,
Sophia. I wouldn’t be able to complete the task myself without you.” I was touched as I thanked her warmly. However, she blushed and lowered her head as she said shyly, “It’s all part of my job. Samuel, you don’t have to be so formal with me.”
Sophia’s tone was gentle. There was a sense of affection in her gaze as she looked at me as if she had so much to say.
It wasn’t that I was self–absorbed. I had sensed that her feelings toward me seemed to have changed after these past few days together.
However, I had no idea when she had started feeling this way.
I hadn’t divorced Abigail yet and wasn’t ready to enter another relationship so soon even if I did. Therefore, I feigned ignorance despite how obvious her affection seemed to me.
Marriage to me was a grave I had walked into too soon.
I might not have ended up like this if I hadn’t married Abigail.
I cooperated actively with my treatment under George’s help. I was desperate to leave the hospital as quickly as possible.
I didn’t want to waste the remaining days of my life in this place.
Thankfully, my injuries weren’t that severe this time. George held me for three days and conducted daily checks on me.
He finally allowed me to leave once my condition was stable and my complexion looked
normal.
He reminded me repeatedly before I left that I should rest well and not overwork myself. Otherwise, he would probably be seeing me in the hospital again before long.
Chisper
I couldn’t help but lerout a bitter laugh before I hook my head and said with a smile, ” Alright, got it.”
His concern made me feel extremely warm in my heart.
I focused on refining the lyrics and the melodies once I returned home.
However, all I needed to do was to make careful adjustments on specific points as Miles had given me such detailed feedback.
I lay down to rest after sending over the final version.
I received a rather unexpectedly quick response from Blair. I opened the message and found a delighted emoji followed by a voice message.
“You’re indeed a genius songwriter! You’ve created such a mature piece in just a few days. It looks like I’ve found the right person this time!!
I couldn’t help but smile at Blair’s cuteness. I received a notification of a payment from her before I could reply.
I was stunned when I looked at a long row of zeros on my statement.
Hence, I quickly typed and replied, “Why did you give me such a large payment? Didn’t we agree on 300 thousand dollars per song? Why did you send me 500 thousand dollars?”
Blair sent a smiling emoji along with her message. “My dad was very impressed with your work. This is a bonus for you, and it can also be considered a deposit for the next song. Just go ahead and accept it! You deserve it.”
