Chapter 37
I planned to use the rest of my time to work hard and earn money so that I could repay the people who had helped me.
I would donate the rest of the money to Kayla’s friends who were sick. I would also sign a body donation agreement to give my usable organs to those in need. That way, I could help Kayla accumulate good deeds and hoped that she would fare better in the afterlife.
Meanwhile, Joshua looked displeased while drinking a cold drink in the lounge at the filming
site.
His arm had bruises and a deep cut. Blood was flowing from his arm, but he was calm and
unfazed.
As Cecilia Hopper, Joshua’s assistant wrapped his arm, she asked angrily, “Are you crazy? You’re at the peak of your career right now. Instead of focusing on acting, you’re competing with a married man, and you’ve even publicly announced that Abigail is pregnant with your child. What were you thinking? Do you know that people are saying that you got to where you are only because of her connections?”
Joshua sneered at Cecilia’s words. He slowly put down the drink in his hand and looked at Cecilia as he asked, “Cecilia, don’t you think that what they said is true?”
Cecilia was dumbfounded as she asked, “What did you just say?”
Joshua took a deep breath and said smugly, “It’s true that I’ve come this far due to Abigail’s connections. What do the online community know? They’re just a bunch of fence–sitters who ⚫ believe whatever others say. Is it really necessary to pay attention to people like this?
“What I need to do now is hold on tight to my financial backer, Abigail, and make her love me more and more, so she will give me all her resources.”
As Joshua spoke, he pushed away Cecilia, who was tending to his wound. Then, he sneered and said, “Once she gives me all of her resources, I’ll just kick her out and handle things myself.”
Cecilia was stunned. She never expected that Joshua’s jealousy and love for Abigail was all an act. He was just trying to make Abigail devoted to him so she would give him more.
Cecilia stared at Joshua in shock. She suddenly felt that he looked terrifying. As they said, hell had no fury like a woman scorned. From the looks of it, men looked even scarier when they
were ruthless.
Joshua frowned at the bandage on his arm. He suddenly raised his hand and tore off the gauze to pieces before throwing them into the toilet. His wound split open because of his rough actions, causing more blood to flow from his arm.
Cecilia was startled by his actions. She stared at him in panic and asked, “Joshua, what are you doing? You’re hurt! If the wound doesn’t heal soon, how are you going to star in the upcoming commercial?”
Joshua remained unfazed by Cecilia’s question. He casually sat on the couch and sneered at Cecilia. “If I keep it bandaged, how is Abigail supposed to feel sorry for me when she sees my wound? Besides, if this commercial is canceled, we can just find another one. After all, Abigail
