When I woke up, Sophia was by my side. With bloodshot eyes, she sobbed and said, “Samuel, you’re awake!”
I smiled and patted the back of her hand as I comforted her. “Why are you crying? It’s just a matter of time for those who are alive to die sooner or later. Cheer up.”
Sophia shook her head and sobbed as she gave me an ultimatum. “Dr. Blucas just came to see me. He told me to keep a close eye on you and that I mustn’t let you slip away again. Otherwise, your body might not be able to take it…”
After I heard what she said, I shook my head calmly and smiled helplessly.
“I know my body’s condition. There’s no point worrying about it because what’s coming will come.”
Sophia refused to give me another chance to slip away. She did as told by George and wanted to stay by my side around the clock.
However, she had to leave for an emergency meeting around noon time. Before she left, she
told me not to leave the ward. She even mentioned that she would have someone install a
surveillance camera at the ward to keep an eye on me. If I tried to get out, she would immediately notify George to stop me.
I couldn’t hold it in any longer and decided to step out for a walk that night. When I just pushed the door open and was about to go out, I ran into George, who was making his rounds,
“It’s so late. Where are you going?” George smiled meaningfully at me and cocked an eyebrow
as he asked.
I let out an awkward laugh and responded, “Uh… I just want to go to the restroom.”
I brushed him off with an excuse and lied.
George smiled at me and said, “Is that so? Let’s go. I’ll go with you.”
I was at a loss for words. I couldn’t help but shake my head out of frustration and look at him. ” Could you please stop staring at me like I’m a criminal?”
George patted my shoulder and said helplessly, “Don’t you know your body’s condition? Now is the time for you to rest, so stop moving around.”
I sighed as I leaned against the wall and shook my head.
George smiled at me and said, “Don’t be sad. I have good news for you.”
When I heard his words, I looked at him with confusion and asked, “What is it?”
George smiled and said, “The specialists have made some progress on your condition. Although a cure isn’t guaranteed, you can at least live up to 70 years old.”
