I never expected them to end up together.

I clutched my chest, forcing down the sadness.
At four in the morning, I finished work.
I was the last to leave. My colleagues thought everyone was gone, so they turned off the lights and stopped the elevator early.
I pressed the elevator button irritably, hoping to light it up.
“Make a call,” Jordan’s voice suddenly sounded behind me.
My body stiffened.
I stiffly called my colleague.
The elevator reopened. Jordan and I stood in the cramped space.
“You guys get off work this late?” he asked casually.
I kept my head down, the brim of my hat covering my face.
“We can only leave after all the guests are gone,” I said.

The elevator arrived.
