He was invited to give a speech as an outstanding alumni representative.
The school was still the same, only the young faces had changed, one generation after
mother.
There will always be young people.
There will always be people in their prime, chasing their dreams.
My alumni name badge fell out of my pocket.
A senior student picked it up for me, surprised. “Are you Hannah?”
“You know me?”
“I’m interning at Jordan’s company. You’re famous there.”
“Really?”
I had been to Jordan’s company once, waiting at the reception for him.
The receptionist had the same reaction when she saw my name.
“You’re Hannah?”
But to this day, I still didn’t know the reason.
The student said, “There’s a core algorithm in one of our company’s projects. It’s said that Jordan wrote it when he first started working on the system.”
“He left a note in the code.”
“It said, ‘If you meet Hannah, please tell her I love her.“”
“Anyone who’s worked with this algorithm has seen that line.”

After the speech, Jordan and I took a walk along the paths we used to follow in our college.
days,
We walked to the entrance of the library.
Jordan looked at the big tree to the left. “This is where you confessed to me back then.”
“Yeah, I remember, I was so brave back then.”
He stared at the tree, his thoughts seemingly drifting far away.
“Jordan, were you happy during college?”
He had struggled, been slandered, and felt lonely.
I thought he probably wasn’t happy.
But Jordan said, “I was very happy.”
“Because with you around, even the pain turned into happiness.”
He turned around, looking at me with the same gentle gaze he had back then.
“Hannah, now it’s my turn to say it.”
“It’s been almost nine years since I first liked you. Will you give me a chance?”
It started snowing again.
Snowflakes fell on his head.
I smiled and said, “In the new year, please take care of me.”
Happy New Year, my boy.
Happy New Year, my youth.
