Chapter 90
“Ellie’s here!” Mavis, who was sitting on the sofa, quickly got up A wide smile lit up her face as she hurried over, her steps light and quick.
“Mom,” Eloise said as she hurried forward.
“Yes, my c

“Mom,” William called as he walked in, his hands in his pockets. Mavis casually responded without even looking at him.
“Ellie, come sit,” Mavis said, taking Eloise’s hand and leading her toward the living room
“Mom, when’s dinner? I’m starving Williams called out from behind
“Go see what your dad’s up to,” Mavis said. “He’s been upstairs for a long time.”
William pouted. “Aren’t you worried I’ll upset him?”
“He’s your father, he’ll get over it,” Mavis said with a wave of her hand.
William rolled his eyes and reluctantly headed upstairs.
As Maris led her to the sofa, Eloise noticed small p

of prepared seafood arranged on the coffee table
“This is tuna sashimi, caviar, geoduck, and tiger crab, all flown in directly from Japrus,” Lily explained. Smirking, she added, “Never tried any of this, have you?”
Eloise had simply wondered why the seafood was on the coffee table and not the dining table
Mavis expression darkened, and she was about to scold Lily when Eloise suddenly cur in. “Mrs. Kilbourne, you would have made a wonderful waitress. You rattled off those names so effortlessly.”
Mavis chuckled, ignoring Lily’s sour expression, and added, “Mrs. Kilbourne, look at Eloise’s sharp eye! She probably doesn’t know you actually were a waitress back in the day, and introducing the food was your specialty.”
Lily’s late fell
Eloise covered her mouth, truly unaware of Lily’s past. If she had known, she wouldn’t have used the word “waitress” to tease Lily, as it would have been disrespectful to those working in the service industry.
Just as she was thinking this, Mavis interrupted her thoughts by turning to Lily and asking, “What goes well with what again?”
Lily took a deep breath, forced a smile, and bent down to carefully pick up a piece of tuna. She placed it on a small plate, topped it with a spoonful of caviar, and drizzled it with a special sauce before presenting it to Mavis.
“Mrs. Robinson, please try this. It’s incredibly fresh, and the sauce was made by a top chef in Japrus,” Mavis glanced at it. “It certainly looks good.”
“Lily said, her tone flattering.
“Definitely. I pulled some strings to get these top–tier ingredients,” Lily

“Let Eloise try it first. If she says it’s good, then it’s really good,” Mavis replied.
Lily remained bent over, her face frozen, and her hand holding the small plate trembled uncontrollably.

Eloise knew that Mavis was standing up for her. She looked at Lily an some idea of my preferences, right?”
Lily gritted her teeth, taking a moment to steady herself before replying, “I don’t really know.”
“Is that so? In that case, I don’t think I can eat this,” Eloise said.
“You” Lily took a deep breath. “You… you can’t handle spicy food, can you?”
Eloise smiled. “So, you do know.”
Η
Throughout her eight–year relationship with Jacob, Eloise was never allowed at the Kilbourne residence. But when Lily occasionally came to the villa for meals, she’d ask Maryanne to prepare a table full of spicy dishes.
Knowing Eloise couldn’t handle spicy food, Jacob never cared. He’d eat alone and later complain that she was making a fuss.
Lily’s hand trembled even more violently, likely from anger. “Don’t worry,” she said. “There’s no chill in this.”
Eloise smiled slightly, then took the small plate and had a bite.
“Is it edible?” Mavis asked.
