Chapter 87
Eloise balled her fists, but she soon released them after seeing the smug look on Jacob
“What reaction are you hoping to get out of me? Did you want me to cry out in misery, plead for mercy, or lament about not being your lover? Eloise shook her head, adding, “Aren’t all those reactions pointless?
Jacob gritted his teeth. “You married someone else right after we broke up. Don’t you love me? You were in love with me for eight yo your love is like!!!
years, yet this is what
“Are you crazy, Jacob? How is it
that you can marry Sophia, but I can’t marry someone else?”
“I haven’t given you my approval yet!”
“Who do you think you are? Why do I need your approval?
Jacob scoffed. “I bet you never actually loved me that much. In the eight years we dated, you probably wanted to break up with me long ago! Maybe you were already seducing other men before we even broke up!
“Speaking of were you and William hooking up from ages ago? Do you think William’s marrying you because he loves you? Hah! Let me tell you something he only married you to show off to me!
“William’s always been like this. He feels the need to best me in everything. Sadly, he’s wrong this time. He thinks he’s superior by marrying my woman, but you’re nothing more than my discarded trash!”
“Do you hear yourself, Jacob?” Eloise was so speechless that she wanted to laugh at him. “Don’t you think your words sound ridiculous? Don’t you think you’re a joke?”
Jacob glared at Eloise. “You’re the one who betrayed me! I’m going to make you regret it!”
Eloise couldn’t comprehend the inner workings of Jacob’s mind. So, she ignored him, turned around, and headed home.
Upon returning to her bedroom, she first dialed Felicia’s number.
Felicia didn’t have a solid call signal but said, “Don’t worry about us, Ellie. Martha and I are having fun on the island. It’s so easy to forage for things on the coast–burry, guys! Get that crab!”
Martha’s voice rang out from the background of the call. “How could you boss me around at my great age?”
“You were fit as a fiddle when you stole some com from my home!”
“When did I steal com from you? I was just sampling it!
“Shall I sample some of your produce when I’m at your house, too, then?
“No way! You’ll have to pay up if you want to eat them!”
The two briefly bickered before Martha took over the call. “Don’t worry about your uncle and Felicia, Ellie. They’re having fun with me away from home for now. They’ll be home in a few days”
“Thank you, Grandma,” Eloise sincerely said.
“There’s no need to thank me. We’re a family now. Oh, right–Willian can be dumb sometimes, so let me know if it happens. I’ll teach him a lesson for
you”
Eloise chuckled, “Okay. I’m unafraid of him since you’ve got my back!”
“That’s right! We shouldn’t be afraid of anyone!”
Eloise had just hung up the phone when Celia called her.
“Ellie, hurry up and check the trending hashtags! Netizens are waiting for Sophia to slap herself, as promised!” Cella urged.
Lloise ended the call before checking the latest online trends on her phone. She clicked one of the top hashtags, #WhenisSophuslappingHerself“.
It turned out that after Sophia’s fans caused a ruckus at her home, Sophia publicly announced she would slap herself if Eloise held a wedding at Highbur
Many people had witnessed it. Still, most of them were Sophia’s fans. They wouldn’t go so far as to harm Sophia’s reputation, right?
Eloise texted Cella, asking. “Was it you who posted the entire thing online?”
Celia responded with an emoji that wiped its nervous sweat away, “Why didn’t I think of this and record the scene at the time?”
Eloise texted Quincey to ask if the latter was behind this trending hashtag. However, Quincey hadn’t recorded the video and posted it online either.
If it wasn’t Celia or Quincey, then it had to be Sophia’s fans who did it. Eloise believed the culprit probably used to be Sophia’s fan but turned on Sophia alter yesterday.
At the end of the video of Sophia’s declaration, the culprit ever included a short clip of Jacob and Sophia, who looked devastated during the wedding.
Chapter 07
The comments section below was entertaining to read. Many said they had never encountered a more laughable couple than Jacob and Sophia.
They had dig and buried themselves in their graves. Plus, they made it so that the entire Internet knew. Now, they were a laughingstock online.
Because Sophia’s popularity decreased, people began exposing her true nature. They revealed she had bullied rookies in the industry by abusing her title. She also suppressed the online opinion that she had poor acting skills and allowed her team to mess with other artists.
Likewise, her and Shawn’s scandal resurfaced again. People began speculating if the baby in Sophia’s stomach was Shawn.
Sophia’s team issued a statement and sued several netizens now that things had escalated beyond repair. Kilbourne Group had likely also suppressed public opinion behind the scenes. Only then did the scandal eventually blow over.
Eloise didn’t care about the situation online. The only thing that concerned her was that Jacob wanted to demolish her family home. She wanted to check on it but knew it would be pointless since she couldn’t stop Jacobs from destroying It
Besides, she would only be fuelling Jacob’s satisfaction if she showed her sorrow
“Mom, my biggest mistake in life is falling in love with a man who doesn’t love me. I gave him all my sincerity and sold your house to him. I can’t ever face you and Dad because of this.” Eloise held her forehead, her shame and regret suffocating her from within.
William returned home before the afternoon.
By then, Eloise had already composed herself.
“Come on. I’m taking you somewhere” William seemed spirited..
Although Eloise wasn’t in the mood, she still played along with him. She got into the car, where William hugged and kissed her.
“I’ve got a surprise for you,” he said.
“What’s the surprise?”
“You’ll know soon enough, but you need to keep your eyes shut.”
Eloise could only close her eyes after seeing how excited William was.
The car started, and it felt like they had been driving for ages. It finally stopped when Eloise was about to fall asleep.
“Can I open my eyes now?” she asked.
“Nope. We still have to walk a little further to get there.” William exited the car first, walked to the other side, and helped Eloise get out. Then, he held her hand and led her ahead.
The road wasn’t even beneath their feet. The ground would sink in or protrude at times.
“Where are you taking me?” Eloise spoke up.
“We’re here.”
Eloise was about to look when William placed his hands over her ey
eyes. “Can I not open my eyes yet?”
“This is the surprise,” he stated while bringing something slightly cold to her cheek.
William removed his hands from Eloise
Only then did Eloise open her eyes and see a red pomegranate before her. She looked at William in confusion. “Your surprise is a pomegranate?” “Pomegranates symbolize good fortune and fertility. How is it not a surprise?” William arched his brow
Eloise let out a dry Laugh. “So, why have we come all this way to buy pomegranates? Aren’t these sold near our home?
“Nope.”
“The grocers don’t sell even a single pomegranate?”
“We can’t get any pomegranates from this specific tree near our home.” While saying that, William hugged Eloise and turned her around. “See? This pomegranate tree only grows here.”
