Chapter 79
Mavis Hantington was the wife of the president of Robinson Group, which meant William must be the heir to the Robinson family.
Eloise covered her mouth with her hand. She had suspected that William came from a prominent background, but she never expected him to be the heir to the Robinson family.
The Robinson family, after all, was one of the top ten most influential families in the world.
“But your last name is Huntington…” Eloise was confused.
“I used to be called William Robinson, but I was often sick, so my mom consulted an astrologer,” William explained. “They said my name didn’t align well with my star chart or something, so she had me take her last name, Huntington, Instead ”
Eloise was speechless. So, when Felicia said she would introduce Eloise to a hardworking young man, she had actually introduced her to the heir of the Robinson family! And to think Felicia had occasionally complained to Eloise about how stingy and opportunistic Martha was,
“Is the pomegranate sweet?” William asked
“What?” Eloise came out of her daze.
William glanced at the pomegranate in her hand and said, “Let me try it.”
Eloise looked down at the pomegranate in her hand and recalled how William looked as he chatted with the security guard at the gate earlier. She couldn’t help but think he was very grounded.
She opened the fruit and revealed large, bright red seeds. Eloise peeled a few off and fed them to William.
“They’re quite sweet. You should try some,” William said.
Eloise ate some herself, and she agreed they were indeed very sweet.
“Eloise, nothing is going to change,” William suddenly said
“What?” Eloise asked.
William squeezed her hand. “I told you before that I want to live a good life with you”
Eloise smiled. When she had been with Jacob, she always felt like she was walking on uneven ground, unsure of her next step and unable to find solid footing. But with William, she felt grounded, and she could see her future with him clearly.
This was the life she had wanted, after all. There was truly nothing complicated about it.
After three hours on the road, they arrived in the town.
Martha had moved here three years ago to retire, and Eloise had already started her medical internship at the hospital at that time. She had been too busy to visit, so it was always Mark and Felicia who went to Kingsbury to visit her. Eloise had never met Martha in person.
The car stopped at the front of the house. Mark and Felicia’s house was next to Martha’s, but both doors were locked.
Eloise had called Mark and Felicia on the way but couldn’t get through. Now, when she tried again, it still wouldn’t connect. William had also called his grandmother, but there was no answer
“Ah, isn’t it Eloise? Weren’t you supposed d to be getting married soon? What are you doing here?” A lady passing by recognized Eloise
Eloise quickly greeted the woman and explained she was there to pick up Mark and Felicia and take them to Kingsbury for her wedding
“Oh, the two of them and Martha left early this morning. They said they were going to Kingsbury for your wedding. Haven’t you seen them?” the lady
Eloise immediately looked at William when she heard this.
William frowned. “If they left early this morning, they’re probably already in Kingsbury by now,”
“But why haven’t we been able to reach them?” Eloise was getting worried.
“We’ll head back first and think of something on the way,” William suggested.
to the car. William called his house, but Martha hadn’t returned home. Everyone else had also started the search
Eloise and Williams hurriedly returned to for her
As they entered the city, they received a call from the police station. When they arrived at the station, they ran into Mavis, who had rushed there.
“Ellie, don’t worry. There’s no need to worry. I’ve already asked the police. They’re fine,” Mavis assured Eloise.
Mavis grabbed onto Eloise’s hand. They were once a fan and an Idol; now they were daughter–in-law and mother–in–law. Eloise had trouble adapting to
“Must have been quite a scate, right?” Mavis asked
“I’m alright,” Eloise replied.
Mavis pulled her inside and said, “It must have been Martha’s idea. This old lady just can’t still. She has to stir up some trouble before she’s satisfied.”
“You must have been scared too, right?” Eloise asked.
“I wasn’t. Martha might be old, but she’s still as sharp as ever. I’m sure she’s fine.” Mavis held onto Eloise, completely ignoring William.
