Chapter 71
In William’s words, Olly was just having one of his episodes, and they should just ignore him.
Leela was worried that Eloise would overthink it and quickly explained that Olly got jealous when others got married because he was single.
She told Eloise to ignore him and said that he would be fine once he calmed himself down
William took the apples with him when they left the restaurant.
At home, they sat back to back on the balcony and read. They enjoyed the sunset in silence.
They had agreed to cook dinner together, but William had a last–minute appointment.
“It’s about a joint venture. I’m contemplating whether to give the other party this opportunity,” explained William.
Eloise didn’t ask any more questions since it was about business. Quincey called her a while after William left and invited her to Jack’s bar for a drink.
You stood me up last time,” said Eloise.
“I got drunk and forgot that I called you, so I left,” explained Quincey.
“I’m quite tired today,” said Eloise.
“But I miss you,” said Quincey.
“Fine, I’ll come over then,” said Eloise.
Eloise found the bar closed when she arrived.
When she walked inside, all the other private rooms were dark except one. There must be people inside.
“Eloise, over here!” Quincey waved and called out from the bar.
Eloise nodded and asked, “Why is the bar closed today?”
Quincey pointed at the only lit room and said, “Jack said he needs to see a very important guest tonight, so he has no time to run the bar ”
Eloise sat down beside Quincey and asked, “Is Jack in the room too?”
“It’s not just him. Xavier’s here too…and Jacob,” said Quincey.
Eloise frowned
“I didn’t know he was coming too,” said Quincey hastily.
“Whatever. It’s fine,” said Eloise.
Eloise noticed that Quincey’s face was slightly flushed and guessed that she’d had quite a few drinks.
“How’s filming going?” asked Eloise
Quincey sighed and answered, “I switched to Team A”
“Has Maureen been making things difficult for you?” asked Eloise.
“It’s not too bad, I can deal with her, but Stanley’s expectations are very high. He demands retakes for all my scenes, so I feel very stressed,” said Quincey.
Eloise patted her shoulder and said, “You stopped acting for so many years. It takes time to get used to it again”
“Mrs. Huntington is very nice to me. She even teaches me a few acting skills sometimes. Do you know her?” asked Quincey.
“Yes, but we’re not very close,” said Eloise.
Quincey hugged her and said, “Mrs. Huntington is only nice to me because of you.”
“Really?”
“She keeps talking about you and asks about you. I’m starting to think she wants to matchmake her son with you,” said Quincey Eloise laughed and asked, “Does she have a son?
“I think s
so, but I think he passed away,” said Quincey after some thought.
