Chapter 27
When Eloise stepped out of the kitchen, she noticed Jacob still sitting in the dining room. He was looking pale and clutching his stomach, likely dealing with a
Castric
Shrignored him and headed toward the living room to tidy up.
“Bring me the gastric medicine.” Jacob called out.
“Don’t you have hands?” Eloise retorted.
“You’re a housekeeper now.”
Eloise rolled her eyes but didn’t argue. She walked to the living room, pulled the medicine box from the bottom drawer of the coffee table, and brought it to the
dining room.
“What land of gastric medicine did you buy? It’s useless,” Jacob complained.
“How could it not work?”
“I took some last night, but it didn’t help at all.”
Eloise’s professional instincts kicked in: She began asking detailed questions about his symptoms, his recent drinking habits, and whether his diet had been Inegular Opening the medicine box, she found the commonly used gastric relief medicine on top and checked the expiration date.
“This medicine works best on an empty stomach, preferably paired with these digestion tablets. Here. Take two of these,” she said, carefully measuring the doses and handing the pills to Jacob. She reminded him to eat something afterward.
Then, she began inspecting the medicine box, removing anything that was expired.
Jacob watched Elnise bustling about, muttering to herself as she worked. A small smile tugged at his lips, but it quickly faded, leaving an inexplicable emptiness in
his chest.
“It the pain persists, you should go to the hospital for a proper checkup. Stomach issues can’t be taken lightly,” Eloise said, her tone still professional.
She habitually reached for the nonexistent pocket of her white coat, only to realize where she was. Her expression darkened, and her voice dropped.
“Get checked soon. If it’s stomach cancer, it’s better to plan early.”
pat it out.
Jacob, mid–swallow of the medicine, choked on her words and almost spat it
“You’ll cry if I die,” he said bitterly..
“Whether you live or die has nothing to do with me,” Eloise shot back, turning to leave.
She needed to check on the construction progress at her house. Although Benjamin was overseeing things, some decisions required her input.
“Jacob, I feel like having noodles,” Sophia said as she came down the stairs, lirading toward the living room.
Jacob glanced at the time. He really needed to leave for work soon. “Beef broth hoodles?” he asked.
“Seafood pasta,” Sophia replied, not looking away from the TV.
“Seafood pasta? That’ll need a trip to the store for ingredients. How about 1 jast order some for you?”
No. Takeout is too unhygienic.”
Looking at Sophia, who still hadn’t turned her head, Jacob sighed, put the medicine away, and went out to get ingredients.
When he stepped outside, he saw Eloise helping workers carry flooring into her house, chatting and laughing with them. She seemed to be in high spirits.
And she was. After serving Sophia and jacob a bowl of rag–soaked noodles that morning, her childish but satisfying prank had put her in a good mood.
“Ms. Sullivan, the room at the far west end on the second floor is locked. Do you have the key?” menjamin asked as he came downstairs.
Eloise set the flooring aside, retrieved a set of keys from the drawer near the entrance, and followed him upstales. She hadn’t paid attention to that room before, and in fact, she had raiely entered the other rooms on the second floor aside from the master bedroom
After trying all the keys, none worked.
“Maybe it’s deliberately locked to keep others out? Eloise mused aloud.
She pulled out her phone and messaged William
It was dinner time in his timezone, so he responded quickly, “The key might be lost, just have the lock broken open”
Since there was no wore to hide, Eloise instructed the workers to break the luck
The room was dusty and was clearly untouched for years. It was small, with a single item inside- i plano covered with a dust cloth.
Horse lifted the cloth for a look. The plans seemed expensive.
“Does he play the piano?” she asked Benjamin.
Benjamin’s gaze wavered. “Alinie.”
Tintse didn’t press further. Everyone had a past, beerself included.
“When you move this piano, be careful not to scratch or damage it,” she said, making sure the workers understood
At lunchtime, Eloise retired to Jacob’s villa to cook. She decided to make stuffed ravioli and bought a piece of meat to chop in the kitchen. The sound of her vigorous chopping soondrew Jacob downstales.
