While lying in bed that might, Eloise was still
she couldn’t understand Jacob. He was about to marry his first love–even if Sophia was carrying someone else’s child, he was doing it willingly. If that was the rave, shouldn’t he be happily embracing his new life? Why did he insist on making hers so difficult?
Just then, her phone tang. It was an unfamiliar number
Eloise answered, hearing a low, mettled groan from the other end, like someone in pain.
“Who is this?” she asked.
“It’s me,” Jacob’s voice came through.
loise’s brows furrowed. She was about to hang up when Jacob quickly added, “If you slane hang up, I’ll have your parents‘ house demolished tomorrow!”
Clenching her teeth, she growled, “Jacob, what do you want 24
“My stomach hurts,” he said.
“I want your sweet potato oatmeal.”
“I suggest you take some medication.”
“Where’s the medicine?”

Eloise ended the call, seething. She gulped down a glass of cold water to quell her anger. Just as she was about to switch off her phone, a message from William lir up her scre
“Looks like it’ll get colder tomorrow. Dress warnly.”
The message brought a gentle waith to her heart.
“How about your side?” she replied.
“Then you should wear more layers too.”

Blouse shared updates about the renovation with him. He listened patiently, occasionally offering suggestions. When she mentioned redoing the yard, his response was simple. “Do it however you like.”
“The changes will be significant. My friend says 1 should check with the homeowner liest,” she said.

Home, buh? But truthfully, Eloise didn’t feel much of a sense of belonging yet.
After finishing their conversation about the house, William brought up their wedding plans. Preparations on his side were already underway, and he suggested she start trying on wedding dresses
“I’ll send you some pictures. Pick the one you like, and they’ll tailor it to your measurements. Once it’s ready, you can go to the store for a fitting,” he said.
Talking about wedding dresses so suddenly made Eloise feel a bit out of place.
