Chapter 15
A woman approached Eloise. “Good afternoon, Dr. Sullivan. I’m Sophia’s manager, Amelia Rickshaw. But you can just call me Amy.”
Amelia was dressed professionally in a light blue suit, a short bob, and thin–framed glasses.
She walked overto Eloise and extended her hand for a handshake.
But Eloise simply kept her hands in her pocket, completely ignoring Amelia’s gesture.
Amelia shook her head and smiled. “Dr. Sullivan, you’re still under jo, right? You’re still so young and must’ve acted without thinking things through”
Eloise raised her brows. “What is there to think about?”
“Well, for one, you could’ve discussed it with us before posting that picture. We could have bought it for one or even two million dollars. By the way, how much do you make per month?”
Eloise clicked her tongue and said with a regretful expression, “I didn’t know a picture could be worth so much.”
“It’s not too late, you know. You could just say that the photo was edited and that you secretly admired Jacob and purposely got close to him.”
“And then tell everyone that I was the one who forced him to hold my hand and smile at me? Do you really think anyone would believe that?”
Amelia smiled. “Dr. Sullivan, you’re not familiar with how things work. People are just following the trend. They don’t really care about the truth. With the right nattative, even the most absurd stories could be made to seem true.”
Eloise nodded, seemingly enlightened. “It’s a shame though.”
“What is?”
“I’m not desperate for money,”
Amelia’s smile faltered, and she tumed back to look at Sophia as if signaling that Eloise was not easy to deal with
“I heard that your parents have passed away and that you don’t have any other relatives in Kingsbury, do you?” Amelia glanced at Eloise, but she no longer smiled this time, and her voice had become much colder.
Eloise simply laughed coldly, not answering Amelia’s question.
“Without family or relatives, you have to bear everything alone. How p
Don’t get cocky and offend those who are beyond your reach.”
Eloise shrugged. “What will happen if I do?”
‘pitiful.” Amelia’s expression turned cold. “People like you should know when to be sensible.
“You should know that this hospital is under Kilbourne Medical Group, and Sophia is going to marry Jacob soon. Once she becomes Mrs. Kilbourne, it will only take one word from her to get you fired.”
“I could just switch to another hospital.”
“Kilbourne Medical Group is a leader in the industry. One word from them, and I’m sure no hospital will dare to take you in.”
Eloise pursed her lips. So that meant they were going to blacklist her across the entire medical industry?
She pondered for a bit. With the Kilbourne family’s influence, it was entirely possible.
“Bribery didn’t work, so now you’re resorting to threats?” Eloise scoffed and pressed on, “What if I decide to quit being a doctor?”
Amelia narrowed her eyes. “Dr. Sullivan, why go that far? All you have to do is take the blame and face some insults. You’re not a celebrity, so what’s the big deal?”
Being labeled as a homewrecker is too much for me to bear. Besides, I could never do such a shameless thing!” Eloise retorted.
“You!” Upon hearing this, Sophia could no longer hold back her anger.
