Chapter 94
Dominic was rushed to the hospital as fast as possible.
Kylle ran to the ambulance just as the medics opened the doors. One of them was wiping sweat from his brow with a grim expression.
“We were still too late,” he said “He didn’t make it.”
“No way.” Kylie’s voice trembled in disbelief.
The medical staff had already covered the body with a white sheet.
Kylie had dealt with death too many times to count · she didn’t need to see it to know.
The sharp, iron tang of blood hit her the moment she got closer to the body.
She climbed into the ambulance and pulled back the white sheet.
Dominic’s face was pale, with blood trickling from his nose and mouth.
No breath. No pulse. Not to mention, his face was covered in bruises–a clear sign of a beating.
He was dead.
Kylie froze as it she’d gotten struck by lightning.
Judging from the state of the body, Dominic was beaten first, then poisoned.
And the poison wasn’t mild either. It was lethal–instant. There hadn’t even been time to attempt a rescue.
The crash had already been difficult to trace, and now, with Dominic dead, the trail was stone cold.
Who the hell had the power to do this–so clean and fast–that even Samuel’s people couldn’t find a damn thing? Or was that just what Logan wanted her to believe?
Soon, a forensic team was called in to examine the body
The results came back fast–two broken ribs, a fractured wrist, and multiple signs of physical assault. But none of that had killed him. In fact, the actual cause of death was the poison in his lood.
The moment word got out, they contacted the warden immediately.
The warden was Thomas Pitt
“What the hell happened?” Thomas yelled, breaking Into a cold sweat. “How did this slip through the cracks? Are you all completely useless? I told you to watch one guy! One damn guy”
Furious, Thomas slammed the phone down and rushed straight to the prison himself.
Just as he arrived, Samurl stepped out of lds Bentley.
Thomas practically ran over, bowing so low that he nearly kissed the pavement. “Mr. Vance! What an honor, truly–it’s a great privilege to have you here.” Samuel cast him a single, bone–chilling glance.
Instantly, Thomas went pale and collapsed to his knees.
Samuel’s expression was grim, as if his face were carved from ice.
At that moment, a terrible premonition started to chum in his gut. He clenched his jaw and asked, “What happened?”
Someone
“Mr. Vance, I—I have no idea what my useless staff were doing. They failed to monitor him properly. Dominic–the one you brought in two days ago–so tampered with his lood. He’s dead,” Thomas stammered, sweating bullets. He kept one eye on Samuel’s face, terrified of his reaction.
Upon observing only cold silence from Samuel’s end, he secretly let out a breath of relief. Then, he quickly added, “But the guy did hit one of your people. In a way, maybe it’s justice.”
“And what — should I be thanking you for it?” a familiar female voice rang out behind them.
Samuel’s browstwitched Heturned, and there she was, walking dis
Kylie looked even paler than usual, and exaustion was written all over her face.
She sarcastically sneered, “Thank you, Mr. Vance, for yet another life lesson–this must be how it feels to live under someone’s boot. How people at the top always
get to decide who lives and dies.”
Samuel’s voice turned ice cold. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
“You’re smart. Playing dumb doesn’t suit you. maybe you just enjoy this game–watching people dance in the palm of your hand.” Kylle’s voice cracked with fury, and her eyes turned glassy with restrained tran.
**ing someone like they’re just anand, making it look like an accident. And even if it isn’t perfect, someone will always jump out and take the fall for you. After all, there’s never a shortage of people who’d kill to ride your coat talls.”
