The streets
bustling with people, lively and crowded.
Kylie made her way through the market and glanced at Owen beside her. His face was bruised and swollen, marked with fresh injuries.
“Two more blocks, and you’ll reach the station. You don’t have to see me ft. Go buy something before the vendors pack up.” Kylie said. After a brief pause, she added, “If anything happens, call me
“Alright.” Owen understood her concem and smiled, though the movement pulled at his wounds and made him wince.
He raised a hand and niffled Kylie’s buit, “I already took a beating–nothing else is going to happen.” His voice was warm and gentle, “If it’s making you unhappy, let go. Don’t burden yourself with thoughts of it.”
“You think I should give up too?” Kylie asked.
Owen replied. “Whether it’s family background, looks, or talent, Mr. Vance is undoubtedly a top–tier bachelor. He doesn’t have any bad habits either. But the Vance family won’t accept you, and if he treats you badly, marrying him will only make your life miserable.”
Kylie smiled faintly “I’ve come this far, I don’t want to give up.”
If she couldn’t warm his heart, then she would simply leave.
But she kept that thought to herself.
Still… A man like Samuel wain’t someone she could simply walk away from.
“Alright. Nothing lasts foever,” Kylie said, waving him off. “Go buy your things. I’m leaving. Annoy Mr. Musk for me while I’m gone.”
I’ll wait until you get on the bus.” Owen insisted
“Fine. Upon seeing his resolve, Kylie didn’t argue. The station was just ahead anyway.
Suddenly, a loud crash erupted in the distance.
Kylie and Owen immediately turned toward the sound.
Apparently, a three–wheeled cart had collided with an electric scooter.
The three–wheeler had swerved to avoid the scooter and tumed. As a result, a child who had been sitting inside the cart was thrown onto the street and was wailing in pain now.
“Hold this for me. I’ll check it out” Kylie shoved the bundle of Purple Frost Boot into Owen’s arms and strode over
Owen barely had time to react before she was gone.
As Kylie got closer, the little boy’s cries grew
grew louder.
She hesitated for a second but didn’t think much of it. She simply assumed that he was just overwhelmed by the shock
“Don’t be scared. I’m a doctor. Let me check your injuries, okay?” she gently said, reaching qut to examine him
**What are you doing? Don’t touch my grandson!”
Before Rylle could lay a finger on the child, a woman in her 50’s, who had just gotten up from the ground, forcefully shoved her away.
The woman scooped the child up and backed away, eyeing Kylie with obvious suspicion.
“A young woman like you pretending to be a doctor? My precious grandson is hurt he needs a real hospital! This whole mess happened because that idiot on the scooter was riding on the wrong side of the road. It’s his fault!
“I need a medical report so I can make him pay. Do you think a random woman like you can get involved? What it something happens? Are you going to take responsibility?”
“Kyls!” Owen saw what had happened and immediately ran toward Kylle.
But just then, a truck came barreling toward them out of nowhere.
“Kyls! Get out of the way! Owen shouted.
Kylie didn’t even have time to turn around before the truck was nearly on top of her.
Suddenly, Owen shoved her aside,
His body slammed into the front of the truck, and he was sent flying two meters through the air lustantly, blood spread across the
e pavement.
It had all happened so fast lut Kylie bairlylad time to process it.
She stood frozen for a moment with her mind blank
