Chapter 57
The tension between Kylle and Samuel was thick and suffocating. She didn’t want to be locked in a standoff with him here. Biting her lips, she said gently with a pale face,” get changed and come down for the meal. Alright?”
“There’s no need for that. It won’t make a difference.” Then, he added, “You’ll still be as ugly asever.
Kylie was at a loss for words. Samuel was so domineering that it was actually frightening. He also had a sharp tongue.
What a real piece of work. She wondered if she had crossed him somehow. His emotional state was as unpredictable as the weather.
Kylie was suffering from physical discomfort. What was more, Samuel had just ridiculed her. It made her feel intensely irritated,
Her chest rose and fell rapidly. She tried taking deep breaths, but it did nothing to cub her wrath.
“All I did is chat with a fellow medical practitioner at the medicine conference, I didn’t humiliate you, and i didn’t do anything that brought shame to the Vance family. If you dislike me this much, then run along and have a meal with Iris. Why Insist on making my life difficult instead?”
Kylie didn’t give a damn about the grim look on Samuel’s face. At the next moment, she turned around and basically fled to her room. She pulled out a bag of tampons from her luggage and went to the restroom.
Actually, it wasn’t a stomachache. The pain had always been excruciating whenever she had her period. She tried regulating her body with traditional medicines for the past years. Alas, it was useless.
Kylie felt too embarrassed to tell Samuel that it was her period. In any case, it wasn’t as if he actually cared about her well–being-
Back in the living room, Samuel’s eyebrows lotted tightly. He didn’t turn his gaze away until after a brief moment.
The maid, Linda Lowe, spoke up, “Mr. Vance, I don’t think Ms. Clark has a stomachache. It’s probably period pain instead.”
“Huh?” Samuel’s frown deepened.
Linda was Jim’s wife, and she spent most of her life working for the Vance family. She had also known Samuel ever since he was a little boy. She added, “Mr. Vance, there are ways to do it right if you want to show concerto a lady.”
He immediately gave her a dirty look and stubbornly asked, “What makes you think I’m concerned about her?”
Linda giggled, but she didn’t expose his lie. Turning around, she headed back to the kitchen.
Samuel pulled out his phone and dialed Sebastian’s number. He said coldly, “Get here now.”
At the other end of the phone, Sebastian was chatting with Dennis. He wanted to ask Samuel what the call was about, but the latter hung up the phone immediately, not giving him a chuince to talk
Linda made chicken soup and brought it to Kylie’s room.
“Linda, I appreciate it.” Kylie held the bowl in her hand. She felt a surge of wannth in her chest and a sting at her nose. Then, her eyes turned red as well.
She had been raised in the sanctuary since she was three years old. Although Allan and the others were extremely nice to her, they were still men when all was said and done. They weren’t aware of the discomfort that accompanied her period, nor could she bring herself to tell them.
In fact, Kylie always thought that she wouldn’t live to see the next day every time she had a period. Later, she flipped through the pages of medical books and tally understood what had happened.
Linda noticed that Kylie was merely holding the bowl and not drinking its contents. In a concerned tone, the asked, “What’s the matter? Do you not like the soup? You have to drink it while it’s hot.”
“That’s not it.” Kylie giggled, and tears glinted la
Inher eyes. “I really appreciate it, Linda.
she expressed her gratitude once more. This was the first time someone had made war soup for her, and she was feeling a little reluctant to drink it.
“You’ll have to endure the hard times before you can enjoy the good. Ms. Clark, you have an angel watching over you. Your days of happiness are at the end of the tunnel.
“Mr. Vance isa’t the best when it comes to expressing his feelings. That’s all there is just give him some time. Things will get better and better.”
