Chapter 38
“I don’t eat instant food.” Samuel rejected. He was cold and decisive. Upon hearing this, Rylie stopped talking and focused on eating her pasta.
Meanwhile, he took out several ingredients from the fridge and began boiling water,
“Are
e you making pasta, too?” she asked curiously, wondering
ne if he knew how to cook
He rolled up his sleeves and revealed his well–defined fprearm. He swiftly diced fresh tomatoes and onion, then put lean beef in a blender and ground it into a fine
mince.
Afterward, he heated olive oil and butter in a pan, stir–fried the meat, and then added the tomatoes and onions one at a time. Soon, the scent of the beet sauce filled the air.
Under the wann kitchen lights, Samuel’s sharp features were highlighted. Though he still wore a crisp white shirt and black trousers, cooking seemed to soften his usual cold and distant demeanor, making him seem warm and almost enticing.
He cooked a plate of spaghetti bolognese that looked and smelled fantastic. As Samuel sat across from Kylie, he ate slowly. His sculpted nose, sharp brows, and deep–sel eyes made him stand out even when he was just seated.
She was surprised that he could cook, which added a major bonus to him because she likedir.
“You didn’t know how to cook while you were at Starlight Summit. When did you learn? Kylie abruptly inquired.
When she was eighteen, she stumbled upon him, unconscious and near death, while gathering herbs in the mountain. She had saved his life. Back then, he couldn’t cook. But over the years, his culinary skills had improved, and he’d changed.
“After I survived Starlight Summit.” Samuel raised his gaze, staring at her calmly. His dark eyes were filled with obvious scom as he said coldly. “Iris likes men who can cook. She must’ve told you everything. Why bother asking?”
Upon hearing this, Kylie was speechless. She was the one who saved him. He had given her an emerald bracelet, promised he would marry her, and even asked what Idad of men she liked.
Back then, she casually replied that she liked a man who could make money and cook. She had never expected him to remember, let alone fulfill both conditions.
He remembered her words and what she did for hin, yet he didn’t remember her face. Kylie wondered where things had gone wrong
Samuel looked away without sparing her another glance. His appetite vanished as he stared at his plate of pasta. With a sharp clink, he dropped his silver fork and stood up
“Stop playing smart and fulfill your role. Striving too hard to stand out will only make you look villainous.”
He was warning her that villains never had good endings. His voice was cold, and his eyes filled with increasing disgust.
Kylie finally couldn’t suppress the fury inside her and snapped. Her expression darkened as she shot back, “How are you so sure that Iris didn’t steal the emerald bracelet and pretend to be me? She has no scar on her back at all.
“She’ll probably claim she got laser removal for the sake of looking beautiful. However, scars can never be removed. They will only tade slightly with treatinent.” Sheets sharp gaze and said each word with a firm tone.
After a brief pause, she continued, “Prestige Group owns pharmaceutical companies and hospitals. Dr. Miller is a well-known medical expert. You can go and verity this yourself!
With that, she rose from her chair, too angry to clean up her dishes. She turned and stoned out of the kitchen
