Chapter 57
Enric quickly made her way
ay up to the sixth floor. While standing outside the VIP room, she pressed her lips together and raised her hand to knock
She’d barely knocked twice when a shrill, arrogant voice rang out behindlier.
“Well, well, if it isn’t my ex–sister–in–law. What are you doing here? Don’t tell me you found out my brother was here and shamelessly followed him”
It was the first time Enrica had seen Rohana since the incident at The Eye of Lost Age. The memory came flooding back–how Rohana had locked her in that room. how Ronald had nearly assaulted her.
She clenched her fists, forcing the hatred down. Her father’s situation came first. She couldn’t afford to make enemies now.
Her voice was sott. “I’m here to talk to your brother. Don’t worry, I’m not here to cling to him.”
Rohana strutted forward with a sneer. “Oh? What could you possibly want from him? Hoping he’ll do you a favor? Don’t forget, you’re the one who almost got him thrown in prison. How do you even have the nerve to show your face here? If I were you, I’d have crawled out of here already.”
Enricabit her lip, saying nothing
How pathetic–she didn’t even have the right to be kicked out.
Rohana gave her a look but surprisingly didn’t press further. She turned and pushed the door open.
Enrica sighed in reliet and followed her in
The private room was packed. The moment Rohana and Enrica entered, the crowd fell quiet
Rohana sauntered to her seat like she owned the place, while Enrica walked toward Miguel under everyone’s watchful eyes.
She recognized most of the people in the room. They were Miguel’s friends. She’d met nearly all of them before
Back then, she was his wife. They used to address her as “Mrs Zucker“.
But now, she was just his ex No one even knew what to call her anymore.
Enrica didn’t care how they looked at her. None of it mattered. She stopped in front of Miguel and spoke with difficulty, “I’m here. What do I have to do for you to Leave my father alone?”
Miguel lounged lazily on the couch, a cigarette between his fingers. He took a slow drag, then exhaled a cloud of smoke into her face. Smirking, he pointed to the glass on the table in front of him
“Drink that. One drink, and we’ll call it even Deal?
Enrica’s gaze flickered. It wasn’t a large glass, and it was merely beer. On the surface, it seemed like nothing
But the fact that he was using it as a bargaining chip made it obvious that the drink was spiked.
She didn’t know what, but in a place like this, I couldn’t be anything decent. Enrica knew it well
Still, bet trembling fingers reached for the glass.
Because if she drank it, maybe she’d fmally stop feeling anything at all for Miguel.
Maybe this one act could ever every last emotional tie she had for him. Maybe this one cruel act would finally let her forget the sweet man he once was, three years ago.
www.
She raised the glass to her lips. And as she tilted her head back, tears slipped silently downbercheeks.
