Rohana glared at her with hostility and sneered, “How dare you showap! Taking on the Zixkers in court? You should take a good look at yourself first. Do you really think finding some pretty boy toy will make you invincible? Don’t come crying to us for merry when you lose the case!”
Jillian gave Enrica a dismissive glance and said to Rohana, “Why waste your breathonber? she’ll realize her place once the trial starts,”
She had come today specifically to witness Enrica’s downtali.
Miguel watched the scene untold with a cold expression, offering no comment.
Sheila, however, put on a concemed expression as if looking out for Enrica’s best interests. “Ms. Schubert, it’s not too late to change your mind. Apologize to Mrs. Zucker and maybe there’s still a chance to smooth things over.”
Enrica looked at the smug faces of the Zuckers. It was impossible not to feel hurt. These were the people she had once devoted herself to, the ones she had treated as family. And now, they were standing against her in court.
Her chest tightened with pain, but perhaps because she had already braced herself for the worst, she felt a strange sense of relief settle over her instead. She said softly. “No one can predict the outcome before the trial. We might not lose.”
with that, she took Zayne’s hand and tumed to walk inside.
She wanted nothing more to do with these people, but they weren’t about to let her go so easily Rohana strode forward, forcing Enrica to take a step back. Her voice was sharp and filled with contempt. “Enrica, what are you so cocky about? Do you really think you and your boy toy can take on the Zuckers? What a joke!” Enricabit her lip. She wasn’t as aggressive as Rohana, nor did she have Rachel’s sharp tongue. But even in her vulnerable position, she remained resolute. “We might not lose.”
“You’re such a pathetic bitch! You think this crap will make Miggy see you differently? How fucking stupid can you be?” Rohana’s expression hardened as she raised her hand to deliver a harsh slap
In her eyes, Enrica had spent the past two years in the Zucker family living in quiet submission. She endured everything without complaint, never once pushing back. Rohana had never taken her seriously, treating her with contempt and abuse as if it were nothing,
But before the blow could land, a steely grip clamped down on Rohana’s wrist, stopping her mid–swing
Zayne’s expression was cold, his dark eyes filled with a chilling intensity as he stared at Rohana. His voice was calm yet carried a chilling intensity. “Ms. Zucker, since Enrica has divorced Miguel, she has no ties with your family. By laying a hand on her outside the courthouse, are you looking to get slapped with an assault charge?”
Robna struggled, but his grip was unyielding. She felt as though her wrist might snap!
“You’re insane! Let me go!” Rohana shouted, her face flushed with rage and humiliation. “You’d better stay out of my way, or I’ll make sure you and Enrica are done for around here!”
