Matthew glanced down at the shopping cart he was pushing. He had hover imagined himself in a situation like this. Moreover, all the shoppers and staff were looking at them. While he was used to being the center of attention, it was the first time he had experienced it in a setting like this.
After taking another glance at the snacks in the cart, Matthew could only stare speechlessly at Nelly, who was happily skipping ahead of him.
Just then, she crouched down in front of a shelf and tore open a bag of chips. Then, as if a thought had struck her, she turned to Matthew with a playful
smile.
“I’ve never tried this flavor before. I wonder if it’s any good,” she said curiously.
Matthew wasn’t a fan of snacks, so he had never bothered to figure out which flavors were good.
“I wouldn’t know,” he said with a faint smile.
Hearing that, Nelly immediately tossed the chips into the cart
“Then we’ll take them home and try them!” she said with a grin.
Matthew suppressed the urge to lose his temper and forced a smile in Nelly’s direction.
Nelly simply turned and wandered off to another aisle, with Matthew following closely behind. As he trailed after her, he discreetly removed several bags of snacks from the cart. After all, eating that many wasn’t exactly good for her health.
At this point, Nelly finally made her way to the household goods section. She ran over to a rack full of adorable bunny slippers and picked out a pair of blue ones. Then, she walked back over to Matthew and asked cheerfully, “What do you think of these?
“Hmm, they look pretty nice,” Matthew replied matter–of–factly.
“Really? Then these are yours, and I’ll take the light blue ones.” Nelly said, pointing to the pair beside them.
Matthew simply had no words. Suppressing the urge to hit somebody, he gritted his teeth and said, “Don’t tell me these slippers are for me.”
“Mm–hmm, what do you think? These are a matching pair.”
Matthew really didn’t want to accept them. Whether at work or at home, his shoes were always black.
Seeing his clear reluctance, Nelly’s expression immediately fell. “You don’t like them? What a pity–I thought you’d love them,” she said with a pout.
Seeing her like this, Matthew quickly took the slippers from her hands.
“Of course I like them. How could I not when you’re the one who picked them out for me?” said Matthew with a faint smile.
Nelly immediately lit up with a bright smile.
“In that case, I’ll add them to the cart,” she said, cheerfully tossing the slippers in.
Afterward, Nelly picked out a lot more items, many of which Matthew didn’t particularly like. But to make her happy, he bought them all without besitation
Towels, toothbrushes, toothbrush holders, and more–most of Matthew’s personal items ended up being replaced.
As Matthew looked at the growing collection of items, an indescribable warmth filled his heart. Although these items couldn’t compare to the custom- made ones at home, he wouldn’t refuse anything Nelly chose.
Nelly bought a ton of things, while Matthew didn’t pick out much for himself. That day, he had effectively become Nelly’s porter, carrying everything she’d picked out without complaint.
