Chapter Silence Me
Cynthia chased after Bean and saw his car parked by the roadside. The rear door was left open. He was clearly waiting for her.
She suddenly stopped, her hand reaching into her pocket, then checking her small bag again. She couldn’t find her phone.
She remembered that when she was cleaning earlier, Helena had called to check on her. After hanging up, she had casually placed the phone next to the basin…..
She had truly left something at Colin’s place this time
Cynthia frowned, unsure whether to leave or to back. After thinking for a moment, slie realized that she would likely need to come back again. Worse still, Colin might intentionally use her phone for something
Without further hesitation, she turned around and jogged back
Inside the car, Brian glanced at the watch on his wrist, then looked into the rearview mirror. He saw Cynthia going back into the house. He watched her until she was out of sight, and only then did he lower his arm
The driver hesitated and then asked, “Mr.Shears, should we wait?”
Brian frowned, and the driver immediately fell silent
It seemed that Brian was unaffected by his earlier emotions. He said thoughtfully, “Do all birds long for the forest once they’ve grown?”
The driver wasn’t sure whether Brian was speaking to him. On the surface, Brian was always warm and courteous, with every word and action seemingly flawless. But the more perfect someone appeared, the harder it became to see through them
Sure enough, Brian wasn’t speaking to anyone. He already had an answer. He raised his deep eyes and turned to look out the window in the direction Cynthia had gone. “Only a canary remains trapped in its eage.”
The door to Colin’s house was still lopen.
When Cynthia entered, she sew Collin holding her phone. Her eyes widened–it was hers!
She strode over, her breath still uneven from her quick pace. She reached out and said, “Give me my phone back.”
Colin raised an eyebrow, turning the phone in his hand. Leaning casually against the bar, he gave her a smile,
The phone was locked with a password. No matter how skilled Colin was, he wouldn’t have unlocked it so quickly. Besides, he wasn’t the type to invade someone’s privacy, nor was he interested in her phone.

But when he saw the wallpaper light up, he found it amusing. It was a pl both blunt and subtle. It was also a little childish and naive,
Unable to resist, Colin double–tapped the screen to light it up and held the phone up to her. “What’s this supposed to mean?”
Cynthia knew exactly what the wallpaper meant. She immediately reached for the phone, but the height difference between them made it impossible for her to grab it.
Colin raised his arm, deliberately keeping it out of her reach. Even when she jumped on tiptoe, it was no use. He watched her blush and smiled smugly. “I’m asking you a question. Is it a secret or something you can’t talk about?“!
Cynthia’s throat tightened with frustration. “It’s nothing”
Colin nodded, still not intending to return her phone.
She quickly added, “It’s just a picture I saved randomly.”
He saw through her poorly delivered le. Losing interest, hetossed the phone back onto the counter.
The moment it Landed, Cynthia grabbed it and quickly turned to leave.
But Colin’s cold voor stopped her. “Do you like Brian?”
She froze. After a long pause, she turned slightly, her voice shaky. “You don’t talk nonsense. 1
She felt like she was caught red–handed. Cold sweat beaded on her palms, and she couldn’t even meet his gaze.
Colin took another sip of his drink to clear his mind, no longer finding amusement in teasing her. His gaze drifted outside, where he saw Belan getting out of a car
the road. Their eyes met briefly from a distance, and the tension in the air was palpable.

Colin turned away first. He placed a hand on the counter as he bent forward slightly, revealing the curve of his collarbone. Cynthia only heard him murmur, “Alright. It’s not difficult to silence me. Just stay another night.”
