Chapter 32 You Had Better Pray That Nothing Happens
Cynthia was surprised by Amy’s decision.
Amy glanced at the rear window, lowered her voice, and said, “Of course, I would love to drive him, but it has to be you today.
“What do you think Mr. Smith will think now that you’ve brought Brian along? There’s no way he doesn’t know about firal’s current situation. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have asked
those questions ember.
“Ms. Sutton, I don’t know where you stand, but since we’re working together, we need to align our priorities and protect Mr. Jenkins‘ interests. Don’t you agree?”
Omthis clutched the car keys, unsure how to respond.
“I’m not asking you to do anything extreme. You’re aware that Mr. Smith has always been under Mr. Jenkins‘ management. There’s no reason to let others take advantage of it. All you need to do is answer like I did earlier if Mr. Smith asks any questions. Can you do that?”
Ultimately, Cynthia nodded and got into the driver’s seat.
As the car started, she was locked in, gripping the wheel tightly. In the reardew mirror, Amy stood alone. There was no Brian around to back her up this time.
“Ms. Sutton,” William called while gulping down a large mouthful of water. He let the window down to allow the wind to blow in to disperse the smell of alcohol
“Is the car running out of gas?” he asked.
The wind blew strands of hair across Cinthia’s face. She didn’t dare loosen her grip on the wheel, her eyes fixed on the road ahead. “No, Mr. Smith, Safety first There’s no rush
right now”
It seemed that he picked up on her nervousness. He chuckled as he leaned forward slightly from his seat. “Ms. Sutton, are you new to driving?
Having drink a considerable amount, William had lost his manner of professionalism. He suddenly reached out and touched her face.
Cynthia tumed her head sharply, startled “What are you doing?
With a shrug, he replied nonchalantly, “Ms Sutton, your hair’s a mess.”
Swallowing her uneasiness, she said firmly, “Mr. Smith, please return to your seat properly.”
He stared at her for a few seconds before finally settling back into his seat
Gaining some
(some courage, Cynthia accelerated further, eager to drop him off as quickly as possible.
The car pulled up at the entrance of Marine Horizons, Cynthia got out first and opened the back door. “Mr. Smith, we’ve arrived.”
William opened his bleary eyes and smiled. “Thank you, Ms. Sutton, Could you help me with these?”
She took his document bag and papers, initially intending to ask the security guards to escort him upstairs. But considering the importance of the materials, she decided it wouldn’t be prudent to hand them over to anyone else.
Despite his unsteady steps, William seemed to be better than earlier.
When the elevator doors opened, cynthia tagged along the called out as they arrived at the door of his suite, “Here are your papers, Mr. Smith.”
Without much concern, William gestured toward the living room table “just put them there?
on’t go inside. Please have a nice test.”
Cynthia stopped at the doorway, holding the files out with both hands. “Mr. Smith, I think it’s better if I don’t go i
William turned his head around, his expression unreadable, and reached out. Instead of taking the documents, his hand shot past them and gripped Cynthia’s wrist tightly, forcefully pulling her into the room

Colin returned. She gave him a brief update on the day’s progress.
“You made Cynthia send William back all by herself? Colin interrupted sharply.
It was rare for Colin to show any emotion in work matters, and this was the first time Any had seen him so upset. Taken aback, she hadn’t even managed to mention Brian’s appearance b before Colin grabbed his car keys. He was already putting on his coat as he strode toward the door.
Amy became unsettled. “Mr. Jenkins, it shouldn’t be an issue, right? Today”
Colin’s expression was gloomy as be brushed past her. His voice was ice–cold, sending a chill down her spise as he said, “You’d better pray that nothing happens.”
