Chapter 30 I Need You
“No need, Mr. Smith, I’ve already had breakfast. Mr. Jenkins isn’t here today,” Cynthia said, recalling Amy’s specific reminder not to let William know that Colin was on a business trip, lest he feel neglected.
“Have you had breakfast yet?” she asked. “If not, Lean wait for you”
William replied, “I’ve had coffee, I just assumed Mr. Jenkins came with you. Is that not the case?
“No, it’s not. That’s my foster brother,” explained Cynthia.
To her surprise, William knew about her connection to Brian and exclaimed in surprise, “Mr.Shears?”
With a playful tone, he added, “Ms. Sutton, you’re too humble. I hadn’t looked through some materials last night, I wouldn’t have known n you’re the daughter of such a major
enterprise.”
Cynthia didn’t want to delve into her family connections, but since it had been brought up and Berlan hadn’t left yet, she decided to be polite and called him on the phone. “Brian, ɔce you in a hurry? Mr. Smith would like to invite you to join us for breakfast.”
Brian agreed. Thus, their schedule was delayed by half an hour
Willum was very sociable, exuding a sense of friendliness that telt like they were catching up with an old friend.
As Cynthia translated their conversation between him and Brian, she noticed that Brian was also quite engaged in the discussion.
Although it was unclear how much Wiliam knew about Jiral, the brief exchange left both parties with a good impression. Toward the end, William asked Brian directly if he could join him in visiting the industrial park.
Cynthia felt slightly awkward for Brian and was considering how to tactfully decline.
But Brian smiled calmly and said, “As the host, it’s my pleasure”
Cynthia glanced at him, and Brian gave her a slight nod, indicating it was fine.
With that, William got into Brian’s car, which followed hers from behind. Although it eased some of her stress about having passengers, she still felt a little uneasy.
Amy was already waiting at the entrance of the industrial park. She opened the door, and her expression froze. Instead of just William, it was both him and Brian that came out of
the car
Thinking it would cause less misunderstanding to be upfront, Cynthia explained, “We ran into each other coincidentally, and Mr. Smith invited Belan–uh, Mr. Shears to join us.
”
Amy didn’t have time to say much, but she clearly seemed displeased. She quickly wore a professional smile, turned to William, and greeted him in fluent Helmsgardian, “It’s an honor to meet you, Mr. Smith. I’m Mr. Jenkins‘ assistant, Amy Moon.”
She then greeted Brian, “Mr. Shears.”
Brian nodded in acknowledgment. Then, he called out to Cynthia
As Cynthia walked over, he asked, “Would Mr. Smith prefer tea or coffee?!
Having learned this the previous day, Cynthia replied confidently, “Tea”
Brin nodded and turned to Amy. “Please follow through with the arrangements.”
Amy’s expression turned stiff momentarily. She paused for a few seconds.
“Til handle it,” Cynthia offered.
But Brian replied, “I need you here.”
Amy’s Lace twitched slightly. “Fine. I’ll take care of it.”
As they toured the entrance of the industrial park, William looked around with admiration and asked, “How long has this been in development? There’s so much potential here. I mean, this isn’t something that is thought out in a few years.”
Cynthia recalled her notes. The industrial park had been planned by the late Loid Jenkins when he was still alive. This year marked its sixth year in operation.
Brian recalled the exact timeline and added, “My father’s original intention in building this park was to streamline the economy From Evergreen to Southport and further south, the goal was to attract foreign investment and simultaneously advance export trade.
“The initial model has already been established. Now, we just need to build upon the framework.”
William nodded in agreement. “That’s precisely why I chose to come here.”
Brian exchanged a smile with him and replied in Anglish, “Same goes for me.
