Chapter 29 The Warmth of Home:
Back at jiral, Amy was still there. It seemed that being on call all the time was the first lesson Cynthia learned on her first day of work. Cynthia stared at Collin and silently cursed What an exploitative capitalist!”
When she arrived at the office, Amy came over to ask how things went Cynthia gave her a brief recap of what transpired.
“Colin has a last–minute business trip tonight,” Amy said as she turned to tidy up some documents on the desk. “I’m going to report to work now. You should also tidy up as well. There cannot be any mistakes when handling Mr. Smith’s reception”
Cynthia nodded. “Got it”
From their brief interaction during the day, Cynthia had a good impression of William. He had a traditional demeanor of Helmsgardian businessmen, so there wouldn’t likely be an
hack first and
Half an hour later, Amy returned to share more information on the project with her. “It might take some time to organize the materials tonight. You should head back meet Mr. Smith at the hotel in the morning.
Til head out from the company, and we’ll meet at Evergreen Industrial Park’s entrance at 9:36 am.”
Cynthia noted down the time and location. “Will you be pulling an all–nighter at the office?”
Amy shrugged, looking like she was already used to it
Admiring Amy’s dedication, Cynthia resolved to keep up and ensure she completed her tasks.
It was already 11:00 pm when she lett firal. Amy handed her the keys to a new car. With her previous experience in mind, Cynthia drove cautiously this time. By the time she arrived at the Jenkins residence, it was dready close to midnight
Though, the living room lights were still on
“Brian,” Cynthia greeted while changing her shoes at the door. While turning away, she also composed herself to hide her fatigue..
“How was your first day at work? Exhausting?” Brian asked before walking to the kitchen and came back out with a plate of apple crisps. “Come and have some,” he added.
Cynthia felt a warmth spreading throughout her whole body and smiled. “Alright”
Brian sat across from her, watching her eat
Although she wasn’t hungry, she ate it with gusto.
“You’re home early today,” Cynthia remarked, realizing that she might not be able to wait for him in the future as she did before.
“Yeah Are you adapting well?” asked Brian.
“Pretty well,” Cynthia replied.
Brian’s expression didn’t reveal whether he was pleased or not.
After finishing the plate of apple crisps, Cynthia continued drinking the soup. “Don’t worry about me. I can adapt in no time”
Brian nodded and gently reached out to put her head
“Did they assign you to handle William’s reception?” he asked.
“Yes, but Amy’s involved, too. So, it should be fine,” Cynthia said. “Mr. Smith seems very eager to cooperate.”
She then shared everything that had happened today and the arrangements for tomorrow.
Brian listened with a faint smile. His brows burrowed slightly, but he couldn’t bring himself to reprimand her. “Well, how brave of you to drive on your own. Mr. Brown will drive you there tomBITOW.”
Feeling a little proud, Cynthia replied, “It’s okay. Lean handle it. I’ll never be able to learn if I don’t try it out myself.”
“Brian, you can’t keep spoiling me,” she added. A wave of warmth washed over her, carrying the familiar sense of family that Brian exuded.
Brian’s smile gradually faded, but he then nodded.
When Cynthia came downstairs the next morning, Brian was already waiting for her.
she drove herself this time. However, Brian followed closely behind her while keeping pace.
When they arrived, Cynthia parked her car steadily She even double–checked to make sure there were no scratches or missteps. Her parking was perfect.
Brian rolled down his car window, and Cynthia wand at him before heading off
After receiving Cyulia’s message, William came down. Upon seeing her, he approached her with a warm smile
“Good morning, Mr. Smith,” Cynthia greeted while walking toward him
Willum noticed the car behind her, its window now rolled up. He assumed colin had tagged along.
He said warmly to Cynila, “Good morning, Ms. Sulton Did Colin come with you? How about we have breakfast together before leaving?”
