Chapter 25
The already award atmosphere grew even more tense with the argument between Serena and Wanda.
Sensing the tension, Jessie and Lily Instinctively paused, looking for an opportunity to mediate
Ethan, however, remained focused on his meal
“Argue if you want. It has nothing to do with me. Eating comes first, Besides, all women arque, so it’s normal,” he thought.
“why are you bringing this up again? Can’t you let it go for once and stop using it against me whenever something happens?”
Like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, Wanda set down her cullery, her expression equally displeased as she retorted, “If we’re talking about repaying favors, the Walker family has more than retumed that debt by now. It’s just a birthday celebration. Isn’t it enough for you all to attend? Why drag me into it?
“Wanda, do you even know how many people are dying to get an invitation to Mr. Ziegler Senior’s birthday celebration?”
With Denzel Ziegler’s esteemed status, those invited to his birthday celebration were far from ordinary. The guest list included local elites and prominent figures from other regions.
This was an incredible opportunity for anyone looking to expand their network–perhaps the only chance for those in the lower social circles to connect with the upper echelon
“I don’t know, and I don’t care. I’m not going. Whoever wants to go call go.”
The two women were steadfast in their positions–one trying to persuade, the other refusing to listen.
“Jessie, who is this Mr Ziegler Senior Ethan asked softly.
Jessie covered her mouth and replied softly, “Mr. Ziegler Senioris a retired general. He’s quite respected around Silverbank City.”
She gave him a thumbs–up for emphasis and continued her explanation in a hushed tone.
In past two minutes, Ethan’s expression went through a series of changes
No wonder Serena cared so much about the birthday celebration. It wasn’t just because of Denzel’s prominent status but also due to the close ties between the two
Given that, Wanda shouldn’t skip the event over something trivial.
Of course, anyone could see that her excuse about the taekwondo competition was just that–an excuse. Deep down, she simply didn’t want to attend.
“I’ll say it one last time. You have to go to Mr. Ziegler Senior’s birthday celebration. This is non–negotiable.”
“I’m not going!
Without allowing Serena to respond, Wanda grabbed her bag and stored out.
“Ugh! I’m so angry! She’s already an adult, yet she’s still so disobedient!”
After she left, Serena slumped into her chair, exasperated. Jessie and Lily quickly approached to contort her.
Watching all this unfold, Ethan sighed inwardly. No matter one’s status, dealing with human relationships and obligations was unavoidable.
After the meal, Serena left to handle company matters. Meanwhile, Jessie shut herself in her room, eager to tum Ethan’s handwritten dratt into a digital document.. She planned to send it to her professor to evaluate its merit and see if Ethan’s claims were credible.
As for Lily, she stuck to the original plan, dragging Ethan to the nearby Icosa Plaza to buy a new phone.
“There’s no need for that, Lily. My phone works just fine,”
“Fine? That ancient relic? It’s better suited for cracking walnuts! Everyone’s using smartphones these days. Nobody uses something like yours anymore!”
Despite his protests, he was pulled into a phone store. The array of models on display left him dazzled. Compared to these, his current phone teally was outdated, “Hello, can help you two with something?”
“I’d like the Apple iPhone 16 Pro!”
When the salesperson brought the phone out, Ethan, who had been reluctant earlier, suddenly lit up like a child seeing his favorite toy. He couldn’t put it down There were no buttons, it was fully touch–controlled, and it had a large screen to boot. The experience was incredible,
