Chapter 33

In the blink of an eye, the week of military training had come to its final day. The students, barely able to move after being pushed to their limits, were on the verge of tears from relief.
Finally! We made it to the last day!”
“I heard the training’s pretty much done. Tonight, the army’s throwing us a farewell party. Once that’s over, we’re out of here tomorrow?
“Aww, I’m actually kinda sad to leave….
“Well then stay here!
Forget it distance makes the heart grow fonder.
“Hey, we’re throwing a farewell party tonight. Does that mean we can ask the soldiers for their contact info?”
“I wonder if Mr. Snee will be there? I’d like his number.
“Ha, yeah rightr
With the instructor gone, everyone was talking, laughing, and enjoying the last moments of their military training.
Lynn scanned the room and noticed Jessica, who looked particularly down. She walked over to her, curiosity in her eyes. “Jessica, it’s the last day. Do you think Oliver’s still inside training? Have you talked to him?”
Jessica’s eyes darkened at the mention of Oliver, and she shook her head. “No contact.
“What? Lynn was shocked.
“That’s messed up. Isn’t he into you? You’ve been out here busting your ass, and he didn’t even bother checking on you, or at least get you involved in the training? Nothing? What kind of guy is that?
Jessica’s mood only worsened. Since their argument on the second day, she hadn’t heard from Oliver, and he hadn’t reached out to her either. Now, she felt a mix of regret and confusion.
She wondered. Why hasn’t Oliver come to make amends after our little argument? He used to like me so much and even wanted to date me. Why did he suddenly pull away?
She couldn’t help but worry. What if he’s been spending all this time with Nina and they’ve actually hit it off? Damn it. Nina better stay away from him. If she even thinks about going after Oliver, I won’t let her off easy!
Meanwhile, in the main building’s training room.
“Instructor Woods, thank you for everything!”
The special forces soldiers who’d trained with Nina lined up and bowed to her. Nina returned the gesture, a polite smile on her face. “You all worked hard too!
With training officially over, Nina wasted no time. She made a beeline for the door.
“Hey, Nina, where’s the fire?”
One of the soldiers called out just as she reached the door.
She paused, then turned back with a sweet, innocent smile. I’m about to leave. I just wanted to say goodbye to the staff in the officers‘ mess.” She was the picture of politeness.
But the next second, someone wasn’t having it. “Ha, cut the act. You’re just trying to sneak into the officers‘ mess for more food, aren’t you?”
The past few days had strengthened Nina’s friendship with the staff in the officers‘ mess.
Her friendly nature and cheerful attitude made her a favorite there. Plus, with her special connections to the officers and even Mr. Snee, they were

“Well, well! Errand boy! Done with training?”
Nina waved at him cheerfully.
Oliver wasn’t surprised to see Nina with the special forces. He knew they’d been training together all week

Some sharp–eyed students lounging on the field immediately spotted Oliver walking out of the main building
